Publisher's summary

Ingrid Palmer doesn't intend to ever marry. Her cruel father has taught her not to risk such misery. Instead, she helps her mother in her dress shop, volunteers at an orphanage, and does as much as she can to help the women's suffrage movement in Kansas City. However, when a brilliant newspaper reporter wants to write about women's rights, Ingrid's world begins to gradually shift.

No Husband?

I loved the audiobook. The narrator was great and brought this story to life for me. Ingrid thought she knew what she wanted (no husband). She had seen how her Daddy treated her Mother and she sure didn’t want to get herself in that situation. She never thought she would meet someone so kind and not a mean bone in him. She wanted to help the movement for women to vote and he even believed a woman should vote if they wanted. He also loved the orphanage just like she did. Wow! How can she resist such a man? I loved their romance and I’m glad Ingrid listened to the voice of God tugging at her heart. This was such a great romance and I learned a little more about the Suffrage Movement.
I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook from the author but was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

I loved listening to this! It was light-hearted and fun. The ending was just what we wanted! Nice twist in the Darwin character. All in all, a fun listen to that I couldn't wait to get back to!

It's a very intriguing story

After the death of her father, Ingrid and her mother have made a nice life for themselves. Ingrid's mother owns a successful dress shop. Ingrid volunteers at an orphanage, and she's helping the cause of getting women the right to vote. she feels confident in her belief that she will not get married. she meets Ryan and tries to convince herself that nothing has changed. There's her cause, which she believes in. There's a little intrigue and God. it's a great story .

I learned things I missed in history class

I learned that today's struggles for equal rights for the unborn are not all that different from some of the ones women struggled with when fighting for the right to vote, own property and run for office. There were people who didn't want women to be heard, and were willing to be unscrupulous in silencing those voices. Many of the problems that we have encountered throughout history have resulted from citizens being too complacent. Ingrid and Ryan took a stand for what they believed was right and got results.

Another great read from JCH

Love JCH books and how they are such an easy listen, yet uplifting and inspiring. Unlike some authors who carry the same plot with different characters, each one of JCH’s books are distinct and have a plot/story of their own.

Interesting Historica Aspect

Ingrid has vowed never to marry, afraid all men were mean, domineering, and controlling as her father was. She is deeply involved in sufferagette movement as well. She meets the newspaper reporter, Ryan, and they become fast friends. He agrees women should have the right to vote. God has plans for the two of them which include mystery, adventure, and danger, This is a wonderful story; the characters are realistic, The historical aspect is intesting as well. I always enjoy the inspirational books by this author and found this to be one of the best that I've read so far.

I requested this audiobook from the author and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Standing Up for Love

Wonderful story and great characters. The narrator was great. Ingrid is totally against marriage, after having a mean Father. She is working with the orphanage and the women's suffrage movement. At a rally, she meets Ryan, who is a news reporter. He wants to learn about her and the movement. Ingrid just wants a friendship, but Ryan wants more. Someone doesn't like what Ingrid is doing and her friendship, trouble is brewing. Can Ingrid get past her misgivings and choose love.
