About this listen

Hockey player Gabriella "Gabi" Welk spent her life in pursuit of championships, but she has little to show for it besides dusty trophies and second-place medals. Now her career consists of several part-time jobs to make ends meet. When Gabi gets a chance at her dream job, she swallows her pride and asks her nemesis - smart, sexy, and savvy Nolan Lund - for help.

Since being named future CEO of Lund Industries, Nolan has tried hard to overcome his reputation as a fun-loving playboy and ladies' man. For the first time ever, he's more focused on the company than his personal life. He spends his free time at the ice rink his brother owns, cheering on his niece at her hockey games...and watching Gabriella Welk, the superstar athlete and assistant coach who gets under his skin in a way he can't ignore. He's shocked when Gabi agrees to trade a favor for a favor.

They have little in common besides their mutual mistrust, but between family crises and sibling rivalries, Nolan and Gabi realize they want to be more than just friends - much more.

Contains mature themes.

Really enjoyed

I love that the Lund family stories have continued. I had been looking forward to this audio for awhile. Narration was good. Story was good. Great chemistry between lead characters. The only plot detail I thought odd was Nolan not being taken seriously by family at the family business since I didn’t get that vibe from previous books. But it all worked out in the end. I loved that he was all in when he found his match in Gabriella. And Gabriella was an excellent strong heroine. Loved, loved, loved hearing her stand up for herself immediately when certain accusations were made toward her by a potential employer near the end. Such a refreshing change from some of the spineless, doormat, wishy washy female leads too often seen in romance. Hope this series continues.

Hockey coach falls for wealthy business exec

Good romance in the Lund series, This is Gabriella and Nolan’s story, which begins with wariness and abrasiveness, develops through friendship and strong attraction, and of course becomes love, misunderstanding through lack of communication and finally a nice, predictable HEA. Terrific narration and plenty of involvement with past family members plus more development of another branch of the family. Worth a listen if you like romances though I would start with the older brother, but this is one of the best in the series so far. Worth the credit but would like to pair with the book for a reread at some point.

Loved…so good.

I just loved this one. So good. The prize of their coming together was well worth the wait.

It was GREAT!

I haven’t really cared for the last few of Ms. James’s books. But I really liked this one. It fit the characters while keeping my interest peeked and wanting to get to the next part. I wanted to find out if they stayed together or if something would force them apart. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

Entertaining!

One tinny tiny correction. From a Tequila “connoisseur” Tequila shots: take the shot, suck the lime then lick the salt (in that order) The Tequila burns, the lime takes the burning and the salt takes the sourness of the lime. Nolan, a debonair Prince Charming, meets skating Cinderella. Both. Have issues but realize they belong together. As always the narrators did a great job.

loving the Lund family

I have enjoyed this series about the Lund family. it was an easy listen but didnt have me glued to the book. I liked the narration by Troy Duran but I just couldn't associate the voice of Elizabeth with a hockey player. Elizabeth's voice for Nolan's mom and others just made me cringe. I think it took some of the enjoyment out of the book for me. I appreciate that she tried to do different voices but it didn't do anything for me.

Too many useless details

Love this author And I’ve read over 15 of her books. The male narrator was wonderful!! Elizabeth….terrible. I couldn’t even tell which character was taking most all of the time she was reading. And, she would throw in really obscure accents when she wanted too without doing it the next time that same character spoke. Lastly, Lorelei James adding way too many useless details. Like, for example, who cares of the ancestry of her last name, Welk and how it connects to Lorn Welk?? Dang…that was 7 minutes long!! Felt like she was just trying to get minutes in. It took almost 6 hours in for it to turn romantic. That should tell you something.
