About this listen

Did you ever hear the joke about the guy whose wife cheated on him with his best friend? So he quit his job, moved into his parents’ basement, and gained 50 pounds?

No? Because that wasn’t a joke. It was my life.

Four years later, I'm back with a dream job, a killer apartment, and a set of abs that are better than ever.

So, when Maggie Light, a stunning, snarky blonde moves in next door, and we spend the hottest weekend of our lives together, I think this could be the greatest comeback story ever.

That is until I realize Maggie has moved to town to do one thing - steal my job.

Maybe this isn't a comeback story after all. Maybe this is war - one I intend to win.

What I never anticipated was that maybe I’d rather win her.

Perhaps, if I’m lucky, the universe has finally run out of jokes and I can somehow win both.

3.5 Stars

I am not typically one to finish a story with such insta-love, but I just loved these characters and their initial banter. However; it was very "I love" each other very quickly. I wish they almost held off getting together in the beginning. Otherwise, I enjoyed this one.

Not what I expected

I been binge reading/listening to books by Author Aly Martinez and so I jumped in.

while it was not a bad story it was not as funny as I would have hoped per the description the banter and funny interaction presented where not as many as I expected, it also dove to obstacles and inner monologue of to love or not while accepting the issue was so different.

after reading very intense stories, a romcom is the relief but this particular one was not as funny, the center focused was on the to be or not, will not go into more detail as I rather not spoil the book. I still recommend but do not have the expectation of rolling on the floor with giggles.

Soooo Goood!!!!!!

Such a good book! Funny, steamy but not gross, Romantic, and a happy feel good ending! I could listen to a series of those two! ❤️

The Narration was amazing! I have gotten to the point in my audiobook addiction where I look for books by my favorite narrator. Troy Duran is my FAVORITE narrator. He has that deep sexy voice, but he can also pull off other voices as well. Stephanie Rose was amazing I will definitely put her on my list of favs.

That being said I loved this author, I am definitely going to check out her other audiobooks. I just pray the narration is good. You can have the best author, best story overview, but a bad narrator can ruin it all in five seconds.

Loved this audiobook!

When the Walls Come Down was SO FUN! There's always a special place in my heart for awkward characters, and getting an awkward H was perfection. Shane was endearing and adorable and so swoony. I even found his fear of heights to be cute (knee pads!). I loved his nickname for Maggie- "Peach" and how he lengthened it to Maggie Peach Light Gray Italian. They had such fantastic chemistry and banter- it was so fun to read! Authors Martinez and Mabie were great together and hopefully they will team up again soon!

Narrators Stephanie Rose and Troy Duran gave great performances. They were both new-to-me, but I absolutely loved their voices.

What a peach

This was a really sweet story without too much drama or angst. After a somewhat awkward meet cute, Shane and Maggie form an amazing friendship with some sexual attraction. They would make an amazing couple if only Maggie wasn’t trying to make take Shane’s job…

What a peach!

When the Wall Come Down was a light hearted listen that had me laughing out loud more than once.
The H and h definitely have chemistry from the start. The only issue was a time the H was a bit of a wimp and the h was a tad ridiculous with her internal monologues,
The narration was good and it’s worth the credit I used.

Awesome RomCom

I've backed off romantic comedies but I'm glad I gave this one a try. It had the perfect balance of heart and heart with humor that wasn't too corny. Shane and Maggie were so cute and just great especially with their flirty banter. I really enjoyed this one.

Peach of a listen

Cute story of Maggie, trying to live the life her mother never had, and Shane, who is trying to move his life forward after his divorce. Troy Duran and Stephanie Rose provided superb narration and got me through a bit of lag in the middle of the story. Enjoyable listen, worth a credit.
