About this listen

Alex Hawke has all but given up on life. The British-American MI6 counterterrorism operative lost the woman he loved almost a year ago and has sought refuge at the bottom of a rum bottle ever since. But late one night at his home on Bermuda, he receives a wake-up call... literally.

His Royal Highness Prince Charles, an old friend, desperately needs his help. The prince has discovered a not-so-subtle threat directed toward the British royal family. What’s more, the evidence reveals an ominous connection to Charles’s godfather, Lord Mountbatten - the beloved family patriarch assassinated by an ingeniously designed bomb thirty years before. A shadowy figure from the past has the British crown in his sights, and has proven once before that his warnings are not to be taken lightly. Several clues point to IRA involvement, but the authorities have little to go on and answers are scarce. This is just the call to duty Hawke needs to get back into action - if the madman doesn’t strike first.

Another HOME RUN for Ted Bell!

What made the experience of listening to Warlord the most enjoyable?

Warlord could easily be ripped from the headlines-but the insights and understandings shared by Bell give meaning and depth to the geopolitical miishmash of the news. This is a not just a great read-it is a worthwhile read. BTW Alex Hawke is not a James Bond guy-he is much deeper and much more complex and in many ways represents the tough choices facing the real modern man! GET IT AND ENJOY IT!

What other book might you compare Warlord to and why?

IT STANDS ALONE IN THIS AREA!

Which scene was your favorite?

Hawke is always battling not just evil on his own and the opposing side-he is battling the grinding societal effort to crush every individual and create sameness. Over and over again in this story and in the otther Hawke novels-Alex must save not the world and the girl-but do it in a way that saves who is and whishes to become!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I love Bell's books and they always make me both laugh and cry.

Any additional comments?

I WOULD URGE EVERYONE TO CONSUME ALL OF BELL'S BOOK-ASAP!

Abridged

I like to re-listen to my books as I get new titles and when I listened this time to WARLORD it was missing complete parts of the storyline. The trip to Mutton Island and the attack on Thames House. Why is this book that I paid for long ago being rewritten.
