About this listen

The launch of a brand-new arc in Erin Hunter’s #1 bestselling Warriors series find the Clans navigating an ominous prophecy that foreshadows the destruction of the Moonpool, and the end of the Cats' connection to StarClan.

As Leafbare approaches, a new danger threatens the Clans. Twoleg construction has encroached on Clan territory, poisoning the stream and making prey especially scarce for SkyClan. Meanwhile, their leader, Leafstar, is struggling with a loss of vision while trying to maintain authority over a Clan that increasingly doubts her ability to lead.

In ShadowClan, Tawnypelt senses peril as the Twoleg construction threatens the Moonpool, but she can’t get any cat, especially her son, TigerStar, to listen. Frustrated with the younger cats who don't respect her, she decides to take matters into her own paws.

In the midst of the chaos, Moonpaw, an apprentice struggling to understand the mysterious voice in her head, thinks that she might be having visions. But the voice becomes increasingly sinister, and Moonpaw wonders if it's a sign of darkness on the horizon.

Good setup to major plot development

This story is leading up to multiple MAJOR plot points. I won’t give spoilers, but something terrible is happening and all the Elders seem to be reminiscing about the Great Journey… for some reason! The last few chapters were pretty wild and I can’t wait for the next book!

Most of these reviews will talk about the narrator, and I agree that we will all miss MacLeod Andrews (Star was his last Warriors book). I wish the narrator didn’t make random pauses (it seems like where there’s a page break or a word broken up by the line) and would keep a consistent volume and provide different voices between each character so we can distinguish the difference when we don’t have the books in front of us. However, I do like having a female narrator because all of our POVs this book are female and I think she does them justice.

poor narrating

I love the warrior cats series, have been reading it for years, and listening to it for the past year. I enjoyed the other narrator from the start, but I can not enjoy this one. she's to quick, to monotone for some cats, and makes it seem like she does it because she doesn't like those cats. to many cats sound the same and so lacking of life. please bring back the other one.

I almost don't want to finish...

I'm glad I'm not the only one with the dislike for this narrator. Sometimes the words sound like they can't get out of her mouth fast enough. There are also lots of choppy and awkward phrasings.

I almost don't want to finish listening, but I love the stories (even though my own daughters have "outgrown" them). Will MacLeod Andrews be back? His is the best narration in my opinion.

This book was odd

Initially I was super excited about Katie narrating this book. I loved her for Ivypool’s heart and I thought it was a fantastic idea to put a female voice actor in with 3 female protagonist. Well that was until I got through the first chapter (which was beyond hard for me to sit through) I counted probably 6 errors with how Katie was pronouncing names and words. Sometimes she just skipped completely over a word and you could tell. It sounds like she’s rushing through the book OFTEN. Please take more time with reading these books and even maybe read it a bit slower?

My second critique is that much like others have said it doesn’t feel like there’s any real distinction between characters and their voices. Don’t get me wrong I’m in the minority that did not like Macleod Andrews so I still believe Katie is an improvement for our female characters, but, I would like to see a little more effort for the voice acting bits. I was really excited about this book because I thought he was gonna be delivered kinda more like a Wings Of Fire audio book and I was very disappointed.

The story itself felt more like a fanfic than anything. Tawnypelt and Crowfeather? Shellfur suddenly getting a different mate and having kits with them? Moonpaw talking to her dead sister was not the weirdest part of this book strangely

Tawnypelt rules; Leafstar and Moonkit drool.

There are three principal POV characters in this book and presumably this series: The first and most interesting is Tawnypelt who, while she still has good years left in her, feels increasingly alienated by the changes to her clan. She's outlived too many of her friends and is feeling strains in her relations to her son, Tigerstar II, the clan leader of Shadow Clan. The second is Leafstar, the oldest and longest serving clan leader, who is definitely feeling her age. Finally there is Moonkit/Moonpaw, who bores me. Moonpaw's chapters, except the very last one, became a chore to deal with.

What's good: Tawnypelt is an interesting character and her part of the story is interesting. Twolegs are causing problems, building a structure outside of Sky Clan's territory and also messing around at the moonpool, It looks like the cats may have to migrate again.

What's not so good: Leafstar's story and the deterioration of a once great leader.

What's bad: Most of Moonpaw's story arc, until the final chapter which was good. Too much time spent fooling around and not coming clean about her real problem. Because of the last chapter, I do have some hope for her future sections of the series.

Overall: Not a horrible book, and YMMV WRT Moonpaw. I am going to read the next book in the series.

Like, Really? Why the new narrarator?

Now, i’m all for new narrators, but really, this narrator sucks. Even series’s like The Wild Robot did NOT need a new narrator. I am agreeing with many other reviews, she sounds too robotic, and nearly every character sounds the exact same. Like, why does SquirrelStar sound so old and gravelly? What happened to MacLeoud Andrews? Also, TawnyPelt is an important POV character! Awesome. I love TawnyPelt :) Also just a little thought, the fact that MoonPaw wasn’t SunBeam and NightHeart’s kit is a big missed opportunity. Speaking of the MoonPaw plot, way to quick with MoonPaw changing to a warrior apprentice.

mcloud Andrews retired

the new narrator will need time to adjust. mcloud Andrews left big shoes to fill and Katie is trying her best. the voices sound somewhat alike however I'm sure that will change with more experience. the story was well written and the tawny pelt and crow feather ship is something that I didn't know I needed in my life.

Great story! Terrible narrator.

She messed up pronunciation of names a lot, especially early on. There was a lot of unneeded pausing in sentences or just her having odd inflection.
Get a better narrator please!
