Publisher's summary

The platoon included four pairs of best friends. Each of the four would lose a best friend forever.

Five months after being deployed to Iraq, Lima Company's 1st Platoon became one of the first American forces to enter Fallujah, where they encountered some of the most intense hand-to-hand combat since World War II. Civilians were used as human shields or as bait to lure soldiers into buildings rigged with explosives; suicide bombers approached from every corner hoping to die and take Americans with them; radical insurgents, high on adrenaline, fought to the death.

Award-winning author and historian Patrick O'Donnell stood shoulder to shoulder with Lima Company's 1st Platoon as they fought through the streets of Fallujah, their casualties mounting. This is their story.

Outstanding

This work represents the best attempt I've see to bring the normal American some Idea of the sacrifice these men made because their country needed them. You just need to listen to it to understand. Make no mistake, this book like no other will take you to the world of house to house fighting and from the perspective on the Marine and Soldier not from the Command

Beyond Good

This is the book that makes you embarrassed at all the other books you gave 15 stars too. The other 15 star books were good, but then it does not leave enough room to justify how great this book is.

A amazing story of America’s true character

This book touched me and opened my eyes to the noble character of American Marines. We take for granted the sacrifices they make. And how insensitive and heedless the politicians, government officials and some Americans so easily call for war. Job well done Patrick.

A magnificent tale of bravery

A clearly pro US slanted book, that doesn’t make it any less powerful. This is a great piece of work on then beginning of the long term consequences of the OIF campaign. One of the better fallujah books.

Ultimate Sacrifice

All Americans need to understand what our Men and Women have endured.

This is true and detailed on what our troops have sacrificed. I cannot image what they live with to this day.

I am personally SO grateful for our Armed Forces. Thank you you Lima Company for your Honor & Sacrifice!

Take time to Honor and be thankful to our Men and Women!

One very grateful American!!!

Respectfully,
