As the Second World War nears its end, a man is stabbed to death on the shoreline of Kinloch, in the shadow of the great warships in the harbour. Unlike the previous entry with its melodramatic scenes and unconvincing love dialog, this tale engaged from the beginning.
Though written in 2017, its relationship to modern day 2025 concerns made me shudder at times. Fiction yes but truth.

Not as good as Nesbo’s “Redbreast” but fans of the series will enjoy it enough to spend the credit.

Have enjoyed this series up to this book. I slogged through it but was 90% completely bored. Found it hard to stay focused with the characters and jumping back and forth timeline. As always the narrator is spot on.

Disappointing. The story was contrived and not well executed. I like this series because of its authentic setting and characters, but this story tried too hard to be more of a international thriller. It failed at both.The ending just sort of ran out of gas.
