About this listen

One first date. One not-so-little mistake. What happens now?

‘No question about it, there are two little purple lines. I’m pregnant.’

After eight years together, Lil Bailey thought she’d already found ‘the one’ – that is, until he dumped her for a blonde twenty-something colleague. So she does what any self-respecting singleton would do: swipes right, puts on her best bra and finds herself on a first date with a handsome mountaineer called Max. What’s the worst that can happen?

Well it’s pretty bad actually. First Max ghosts her and then, after weeing on a stick (but mostly her hands), a few weeks later Lil discovers she’s pregnant. She’s single, thirty-one and living in a thimble-sized flat in London, it’s hardly the happily-ever-after she was looking for.

Lil’s ready to do the baby-thing on her own – it can’t be that hard, right? But she should probably tell Max, if she can track him down. Surely he’s not that Max, the highly eligible, headline-grabbing son of Lord and Lady Rushbrooke, currently trekking up a mountain in South Asia? Oh, maybe he wasn’t ignoring Lil after all…

I really enjoyed the story. I’m on the road a lot and I found myself excited to have to drive my car so that I can continue listening to the story. I was also sad when the story came to an end. Not because the author didn’t do a good job with the ending but the very fact that I wouldn’t be able to continue to experience the main character’s life.

Also, I really enjoyed the way that the author narrated the story!

Cute and Fun!

not a romance. this was a drama about a pregnant woman. I did not understand the dynamics between Lil and Max at all. i finished it, but it was a pretty abrupt end.

ho hum

Really enjoyed listening to this story in the car - different from a classic rom com, included more storyline with the best friend rather than the love interest. The ending was abrupt and would love a sequel! Really like this author and hope to see more from her!

A solid 4 star story

sweet story even though there is some vivid descriptive language in scenes that detracts from that a bit.

I thought it was interesting and impressive that the author did the narration. That was one of the reasons I caved and spent a credit on a basic romance. Sophia reading was very good although the audiobook might have been a bit more interesting with a reader that can do voices that distinguish male/female characters

It was thoughtfully written with realistic development of the characters throughout the book. I appreciated that there was humor but it wasn’t the Sophie Kinsella type cringe-inducing kind.

Solid decent book and performance

I enjoyed this book but I listened at a slower speed as the author was reading too fast for a languid listen.

A good beach read

I really enjoyed the story and the characters. I loved Lil and her friends. I also like the narration by the author. Seemed real world. Already looking for another book by this author.

I do wish there was an epilogue. I love when you get a glimpse of how things turn out later.

Great read even for a non Brit

Overall a good chic story. Good have done without the graphic description of the sex scenes and not because I’m a prude but honestly there just wasn’t a need for it.

Good Beach Listen

It was ok. Nothing that held me captivated or surprised. I would catch myself tuning it out as I drove. Yeah, it was OK.

I just loved this story and the performance was great!! I like a fast pace talker that can deliver humor with timing and charm. I could picture the story as a movie in my head. Can’t wait to find more books by this author!

Hilarious, heartwarming and fun!
