About this listen

Chantal is the ultimate femme fatale, the deadly siren of every man’s dreams and nightmares. A ruthless - and beautiful - black widow, she seduces and destroys those around her. To her lover, Dan Stark, she promises paradise and more. But as her web descends, he must decide his role - one of her victims...or her killer. Christine Terry is rescued after spending 19 days in the Caribbean on a life raft, then mysteriously escapes from the hospital before she can be questioned about the wreck and disappearance of the yacht she was on - and its owners. Cynical but likable reporter Dan Stark is suspicious but obsessed, and soon finds that she is absolutely nothing that she pretends to be. He agrees to help her retrieve a fortune in stolen emeralds from the sunken boat, but when she abandons him on an empty atoll, he vows revenge. Soon, like Chantal (her real name), he learns to change himself and his appearance to fit the situations he meets in pursuit of her. After more than one dangerous engagement with her over the next several years, he discovers a much more personal reason for tracking her down to a final confrontation....

The story was interesting and kept me listening. It had a lot going on but seemed to hold it together. The reader was good.

I really enjoy Ron’s writing style. He explains some minute details while keeping it very interesting. The humor and humanity of each character makes these reads very entertaining.

Detailed and witty…

Truly a twist and turn novel. lots of unexpected turns in the book. starts and ends on an island with many different characters. I could not wait to see what happens next. and the final couple of hours was a great listen.

Sea faring crime

Going to try to re-listen, but found myself not paying much attention. Action is too slow!

Slow moving

Too long. The story could have ended 3 or 4 times. I am glad I didn't pay to listen to it. Don't recommend this one at all.

Too long with repeating story.

I've motored through nearly all of Faust's novels these past couple of weeks. I should think to mention that one might enjoy them more in their order of publication rather than audible release dates.
Characters and places from earlier works make delightful cameos later down the road.
Faust does exhibit a firm grasp on sailing which I have found enjoyable. The plot twists and turns in this book were delightful.

Probably the best so far :)

This author uses masterful craftsmanship, beautiful prose, and humor to deliver a delightfully twisted tale. Just when you think it's wrapping up, here comes another major plot twist... then another.

Performer has an odd stilted delivery that takes time to get used to.

FANTASTIC!

From the 1st sentence I thought maybe I had chosen an LGBTQ book. The story is told in the first person about a straight male who is quite adventurous. With few exceptions, the male characters in the book all sounded decidedly gay due to the narrator's voice, pronunciation and emphasis. He (the narrator) clearly did not feel or understand the main male character and certainly did not relate to the adventure, not even pronouncing the name of a common rifle correctly. This book would be so much better with a male voice with some grit.

Narrator not believable
