The best trilogy I have ever heard.

Wonderfully executed. Exquisite. My favorite author. Can easily bond with the characters. Narrator captures the essence of the story. Truly moving narrative.

Strong Continuation of the Series

This book is a strong continuation of the story created in the first book. I continue to like the characters and it flirts with being a really amazing book, but it didn't quite feel like it realized that potential. Still, it was very solid and enjoyable, adding depth to the world and telling an interesting story.

a triumph of sci fi, fantasy, and storytelling

I've been re reading this series once every couple of years since I was a teenager. It's that rich with meaning and emotion and complex storytelling. Thoroughly recommended.

Best Anti-hero Ever

Gerald Tarrant is such a complex character that no other dark protagonist can compare. This trilogy remains among my favorites all these years later.

Deep

it was ok. For me R C Bray saved this book. I have listened to the first one and this one. not what I was expecting, I won't do the last one. I do not like the way the author uses so much descriptive words. it's just too much. plus it's a little darker than I like. I know it's just me, this is not my kind of book.

Dark epic saga continues

The events describe in this book take place on a different continent compare to the first book. Our pragmatic priest and vampire team up again to confront an evil on other continent that has a potential to destroy the world as it exists.

Uneasy alliance of priest and vampire continue to evolve that neither can survive without each other. Though, inner conflict for priest continue to be a source of intrigue in the story line.

Book is semi repetitive in middle chapters, but it is not too cumbersome. One of the intriguing part of the book is the struggle between main characters and the bad guy becomes very abstract at times. Information extracted form magic is not accurate at times that bad guy sets subtle traps that leads to very interesting over all story. Like the first Book, this book remains dark if not darker.

Vampire goes through inner conflict as well, and makes surprising decisions which are outside of its normal character.

Book does lack humor and it is understandable that subject matter is not all that happy. Ending of the book, however, is very exciting and opens up a lot of possibilities for another book.

I enjoyed the narration that is appropriate for this book. It is not over dramatic nor too meek.

I recommend this book.
