About this listen

In a sleepy, historical Iowa town, tourist season is in full swing, and the strangest serial killer the world has ever known is roaming at will.

It begins with a mysterious house explosion, a severely burned man, and an unidentified female body. More victims follow, each killed under the oddest circumstances, each bearing an identical but unidentified wound, each attack accompanied by the most eerie, musical ticking.

When the lead homicide investigator goes missing, Police Sergeant Erin Vanderjagt is forced into the fray and into a personal hell she never imagined. Who is behind the bizarre deaths?

As the murders continue, what can Erin do, where can she go, how can she fight the horror...when the tik-tik sings?

The story line wasn’t too bad as it was based off of a Philippine fable but the performance really made it hard to enjoy. I might try reading the hard copy

I didn’t like it as much as I could have

The plot idea was great.
The writing is simplistic. Worn analogous euphemisms, unrealistic interactions, etc. The author should have had it edited by actual Filipino natives. The mistakes are glaring.

The reading performance was downright HORRID. Monotone, improper pauses, forced inflections, etc.
The book would be tolerable with even an average reader. My interest in Asian crytozoology was the only thing that kept me listening. Hope I can finish.

Good idea. Very bad finish.

I almost didn’t. Make it past the first chapter due the droning voice of the narrator, but the story hooked me good! It just gets creepier as you go. The ending had me on the edge of my seat. If you like them scary this one is for you.

Freaky, spooky, creepy, oh my!
