About this listen

Tazãr Bao, an expert Exorcist for the Guild of Magic, is about to have his world turned upside down. Yet again. When Tazãr enters a sanctuărium for the Mages to receive a restorative spiritual energy treatment, he is reunited with the last person he ever expected to encounter—an Alpha Demon, Inuel Morhh, the one who’d left Tazãr with a shattered heart two years prior. Can Tazãr find the strength to trust Inuel again? Can he forgive him? Will being thrown together in a place where they can’t revert to lies help them make sense of their past and build a future?

Where Exorcists Cannot Lie is a second chance, forced proximity romantasy that follows a petite Exorcist Mage and an Alpha Demon with a penchant for kittens.

This story was so good. I am captivated by the stories I have read set in this universe. I think this one is my favorite so far. Taz and his alpha demon have a complicated history but second chances can be magical. I absolutely adored this book and the narrator did a good job of burning them to life.

I enjoyed this fantastical world of different paranormal creatures. Throw in a second chance romance and it was a lovely story. Not too angsty...little bit spicy with the forced proximity and the MCs couldn't help worked through their issues renew the love. This is my first with this author and I believe with this narrator also.. Very good performance. He did the voices well and made it very entertaining. Loved the ending.

This is the first book I have listened to with Rowan Scott and I cannot wait to find more of his work. The narration was crisp and clean, yet kept you on your toes.

I am not sure if it was the length of the book or the overall story but truly, this story was too short, not enough world building and not quite enough connection between the MCs. It was easy to feel the emotions of the of the two beings but I never quite felt a connection with Inuel and Taz. Their intimate moments were brief and while interesting were not all that exciting. I am glad that they did talk once they are reunited but truly this story fell flat and the greatest asset to the story is Ro

*Audiobook update: I'm so glad Kasia Bacon decided to release this in audio. I just finished listening and I loved it. Rowan Scott did an amazing job with the narration. This is the first book I've listened to narrated by him and I look forward to more.

*3/9/24 ebook review: This is only the third story I've read by Kasia Bacon and the second book set in the Order universe. I recently read The Mutt, book 1 in the series The Order. This universe is so interesting that I was intrigued and wanted more. Both stories were quick reads, with fully fleshed out stories. I especially loved the glossary, it's always nice to have more detail about a made up world which only exists in the mind of this author and the pages of the book.

I can't wait to see what the author has in store for these two guys after stating that she's taken a shine to them. Just a little teaser to keep us coming back for more.

3.5 stars rounded up - this grew on me!

Second chance, exorcist and demon end up magic-less and under a truth oath resting and forced together at a sanctuary for a month.

Insert cozy vibes, domestic bliss, a kitten, and honesty.

Short, romantic, second chance & forced proximity

Did I know this was going to be a sort of short read/listen compared to my usual? Yes. Do I want more of their antics and stories? Also yes!

Kasia is a masterpiece for creating this story full of magic, history and love. I was enthralled since minute one and by the end I became the Zuko meme of “this can’t be it” because I wanted so much more. 10/10 can say that I’ll be delving into more Kasia’s books in the future!

AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON ROWAN SCOTT AND HIS SMEXY ACCENT!!! His portray of both Tazãr and Inuel were so freaking perfect, I finished this in minus nothing!!! It really brought the story and feelings to life in such a majestic way. Beautifully done! Can’t wait to see what other works I can read/listen from them.

If you’re looking for a relatively short read full of magic and paranormal, with a sprinkle of smut, this is the book for you! 10/10 recommend!

I need more!

I enjoyed it. The story was ok, I liked the characters, and magical world, forced proximity setting was intriguing, it could have been great, but I didn't feel the intense connection or the heat between Tazar and Inuel, maybe because the story was a bit shorter than what I usually listen to. Narrator did an amazing job and I loved his voice and story telling. Overall this was an enjoyable listening experience, I would like to listen to more stories set in this magical universe.

I have to start with how much I loved Rowan's narration here. Definitely made me want this to be a longer listen! We get some great background in the beginning that sets the stage for Taz and Inuel to meet again. Taz was so different than one would usually expect an Exorcists to be! I adored him and his snarky self. Taz helps his Demon out and it is full steam ahead, no pun intended!

This was over way too quickly. So this book is in the same world as the Order Series, which I have not read yet. But I believe you can read it as a standalone and not feel lost. I will have to go and read that series as I did enjoy this book. So we have Tazãr who is and exorcist mage, think of more a cop. And we have Inuel who is an Alpha demon who doesn’t play on the straight and narrow. Inuel broke Tazar’s heart and when they are thrown back together, we get to see them get a second chance. There was a reason behind the separation that Taz didn’t know about, but them being together for an extended period of time, all truths come out and our boys get their HEA. This is a new to me narrator, and I really enjoyed how he brought our MC's to life.

I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. The premise was interesting and I loved both Tazãr and Inuel. Taz had every right to still feel hurt about Inuel just disappearing on him when he thought they had bonded so strongly and had a good relationship even two years later. I liked how the author wrote in the scenes of how these two first got together in addition to their reuniting, because it gave us a chance to see how Inuel had changed during their time apart. Since this is a pretty short story, this was important and well done. I also liked how the whole thing was from Taz's POV to keep us guessing as to why Inuel had left and how he feels now. This is also the most unique cause for forced proximity I've ever read. I kind of wish the book was longer because I really liked these two and wanted to see more of their time together- though their story does feel complete. I also loved that the epilogue was from Inuel's POV. He's such a fun character, and I loved his playfulness and their banter.

Rowan Scott did an amazing job bringing Taz and Inuel to life. I love his accent, and I had no trouble distinguishing between who was speaking. I also liked the little extra attention to details- for example, when Inuel teased Taz in a singsong way, it actually sounded like that. One scene when Inuel was talking while happily enjoying a treat Taz baked, it did sound like he was eating and swallowing in between words.

This is my first time listening to Rowan and I definitely want to hear more of his work. This is also my first book by this author and I'd love to read more romances in this world.
