About this listen

A young girl's midnight séance awakens a long-slumbering malevolent spirit.…

A band of runaway orphans allies with an underground collective of saboteurs and plans a daring rescue of their friends, imprisoned in the belly of an industrial wasteland.…

Two old friends draw closer to their goal of bringing together a pair of exiled toy makers in order to reanimate a mechanical boy prince….

As the fate of Wildwood hangs in the balance.

The third book in the Wildwood Chronicles is a rich, moving, and dazzling story, by turns funny and profound. Both Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis are at the height of their gifts with Wildwood Imperium.

Critic reviews

"Meloy gives his antic imagination full rein to produce work that...is brilliantly sui generis." ( Kirkus Reviews)

My son and I listen to this series, and can't put it down, Not only is the storyline magical and wise, it's message about our environment is hopeful. The main characters-children & preteens- are empowered to act bravely and listen to their intuition. As a reader, I love Meloy's wordsmithery and as a mom, I love the messages about humans and our relationship to the mysterious and sacred places in nature.

Meloy's writing keeps us peeled

Started the series with my kids, on audible but they didn’t like the reader of the first book. I kept on with the rest of the series and really enjoyed the last two with the author reading. The story overall was engaging and told with so much detail that I could see the story in my head. Loved the world he created.

Loved it

What a great trilogy. Book two left you hanging, and this one kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Needless to say, I flew through it. I’m 34, but wanted to preview these books before I gifted them to my nephew who is in middle school. They kept me thoroughly entertained, and I can’t wait to eventually one day read them with my son (currently 2).

I'm in love with this trilogy! it's such a fun, easy read, full of twists and unexpected turns that leave you constantly questioning the outcome. Meloy created such depth in his characters and scenes I felt transported to Wildwood with each passing word, like I was a bird flitting to and fro, following the action, and seeing it with my own eyes. I am so grateful to have been a reader of this magnificent story. ❤️

Beautiful!

This book is incredible, what a way to end off the series! All I wish is for Colin Meloy to write a 4th book in this series, there is surely more to tell

Amazing book!

I love the Wildwood series. The style reminds me of Neil Gaiman's young adult literature, which I adore. I hope to return to Wildwood in the future--and as a Portlander, I love knowing I can hike through the park it is based off of!

A fitting end to the trilogy
