About this listen

His only goal was survival until he met her...

With nothing to lose, former cop Damon Winter agrees to an undercover op, infiltrating a cult in the dangerous post-Scorpius world. After one look at his new partner, he knows she belongs far away from not only the cult, but from him. She's sweet and kind and has no business being in peril, but she's determined to help. Suddenly, the part he's playing as her man explodes into a passion neither of them had expected.

She hadn't purposefully faced risk until she met him...

April Snyder has survived loss, pain, and uncertainty. Now she's ready to live again. There's nothing left but to make a difference for others, so why not go undercover in the cult? Now all she has to do is keep it professional and ignore her handsome, deadly, overbearing partner, who's too sexy for her peace of mind. Intrigue, risk, and danger make for an irresistible temptation - until enemies close in, threatening everyone they've sworn to protect.

Excellent addition to the series!

I enjoyed this book! I have been enjoying myself as I have worked my way through Rebecca Zanetti’s Scorpius Syndrome series this year. This is a series that I would recommend reading in order if at all possible since so much of the story builds upon the events from previous books. I was hooked by this installment right away and couldn’t wait to see how things would work out.

April is a character that I have been eager to learn more about since she was introduced at the beginning of the series. Things have not been easy for April and I really wanted to see good things come her way. Damon was very easy to like. He is genuinely a nice guy who is willing to put himself in danger to protect others. I thought that they made a great pair working undercover at the cult. This story had a lot of really emotional scenes that really got to me. I thought that April and Damon were a perfect match and was eager to see them form a connection.

Michael Pauley did a wonderful job with the narration of this book. He has narrated all of the books in the series so he has become the voice of these characters for me. I think that he has a great range and is able to portray both male and female characters quite well. I liked that he is able to add some emotion and excitement to his reading. I am certain that his narration added to my overall enjoyment of this book.

I would definitely recommend this book to others. This has been an entertaining series filled with great characters and quite a bit of action. I cannot wait to pick up the next book to see how the series wraps up.

Another Alpha-male catches his prey!

This is another story of two people who have lost everything, but timidly, find another soul to love. The Hero is a member of the mercenary group and the Heroine is a mother who almost took her own life over her teenage daughter’s grave. This novel starts where the last novel ended. Mercury is trying to make sure that the “Pure” members ( an independent group inside of Mercury’s compound) are willing inhabitants. Their struggle against the 20 gang is ramping up and the President is planning revenge. In the midst of all of this, the group is doing all they can to find and infiltrate the secret bunkers in hopes of discovering the research they need to cure the virus and solve their reproductive issues. Somehow, in the middle of all this craziness, the H and h find a bit of happiness in each other’s arms. Definitely, a credit worthy listen!

Good addition to series but could use dual narration

This story features the Merc 2nd in command, Damon Winter, a former cop assigned to SWAT and the Drepressed and grieving Vanguard orphan supervisor, April Snyder. Lots of sub plots as they go undercover to investigate the uninflected “pur”. The narrative moves ahead slowly but some additional children are introduced into the story and the set up occurs with Jax’s brother and the little girl Lena, for future story. Hate waiting long between each book but this is an enjoyable series.

I am loving this series

I need Knight Awakening on audio. Hopefully it will be out soon because I am psyched for Marcus & Penelope’s story. This one may have been my favorite but I have loved all of them. Narrator does a great job, apart from the fact that he can’t seem to pronounce the word “vestibule” and in an unfortunate fluke it somehow comes up more than you’d really think it would in this series, but that’s no big deal. He’s awesome.

Love this series!

This seems to have been moved to the back burner in favor of pushing new series, so I missed the release but glad it's finally here. Hope Ms. Z will catch up making the Scorpius Syndrome available on audible and hurry with the rest of the story! These are standalones within a continuing story - can't wait to see how it all works out!
