About this listen

The New York Times and USA Today best-selling series soars to even greater heights with a new prophecy and five new dragonets ready to claim their destiny!

Daring mission or deadly mistake?

Winter has been a disappointment to his royal IceWing family his whole life. When his sister, Icicle, runs away from Jade Mountain Academy, fleeing terrible crimes and possibly planning to commit more, Winter knows that they both need a second chance to make things right - if only he can find her.

Winter's new clawmates, Moon, Qibli, and Kinkajou, won't let him make this dangerous journey alone. They don't seem to understand that IceWings, the most superior of all dragon tribes, can fix their own problems. When their search leads the dragonets straight into Queen Scarlet's vicious talons, Winter is grateful to have some help. But even the bravest dragons can't follow him to the Ice Kingdom, where he'll have to face the greatest threat of all: his own family.

😑

It’s pretty good, but Moon is so whiny, she is starting to become my least favorite character because of this book.

Oh, yes!

After reading Moon Rising, it feels weird to know hear the thoughts of one Dragon again. But I'm glad we finally got to see the IceWing tribe firsthand, through the eyes of Winter. I do feel like Winter is kind of a jerk, thought. But like Eustace in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, he becomes much less of a pain by the end of the book. It is nice to read about someone who isn't the normal everything-is-wonderful-I'ma-good-Dragon kind of character. He can be cold-hearted and insensitive, but I like how he cares about his brother, because he gave up everything: his rank, his royalty, his chance at having everything he has ever wanted to save his brother, when he could have just won the Diamond Trial, but he chose not to.

My favorite part is when Scarlet and Chameleon are talking and Scarlet starts being a drama queen and calls him weird. XD. Anyone else love that? She's definitely one of my favorite villains, and at times I wish she would have lasted longer (No spoilers!) But at other times I'm just like Scarlet go die. I kind of think she should have her own book, like, how she became queen, like The Rise of Scourge in the Warrior Cats series (but don't just make excuse for her. She's still horrible.) But does anyone else think she might have an interesting story? (Sorry for that tangent.)

As I've said before, I'm glad we finally got to experience the IceWing territory. I think the IceWings should stop thinking about ranks and great everyone equally. Overall, I think they should be more like the RainWings. In the future, there should be an IceWing queen who convinces the tribe to do just that. But I'm happy Winter was able to overcome his obsession with the ranks and do what's right.

This book series is thrilling! And this is a good seventh book! Go listen to it!
