Magic begins in the heart.
Jinx Hamilton is ready to trade in waitressing for becoming her own boss. The shop she inherits from her eccentric aunt in Briar Hollow, North Carolina, seems like the perfect fit. As Jinx handles the enchanted inventory and the unruly clientele, she discovers her aunt also willed her magical powers without an instruction manual!
As if that weren’t enough, she’s forced to deal with four cats, several homeless ghosts, and a potential serial killer. With a little help from her best friend and a dreamy new neighbor, Jinx must keep the business afloat and the murderer at bay. And it’ll take more than clever bookkeeping and spellcasting to keep the store...and herself...from going under.
Witch at Heart is the first audiobook in an enchanting series of cozy paranormal urban fantasy novels. If you like twisty mysteries, hilarious hijinks, and a dash of sweet romance, then you’ll love Juliette Harper’s cozy fantasy world.

- Walk along format, following the MC in multiple levels of discovery
- Paranormal outruns the crime trope, but both are good, relevant.
- Paranormal is exceptionally diverse. Creatures of all kinds and moves beyond fairyland (after book 1).
- Stories are complex, but feel southern comfortable.
- Based in deep south, but liberal, especially tree hugging (inside joke).
- Ghosts accompany MC throughout. History includes both real and the fantastical.
That's just a few reasons to love this series. The big conflict takes time, and I liked that ending.
I enjoyed how Bourn gave a unique performance for every character taking into account not only accent\dialect, but personality, education , home life, economics, self-education, nurture, age, personal choice, etc. There are countless ways to think of dialects in the south, or anywhere else in the states, and she took advantage of them all as this series has a huge cast.
Thank you for recording this, I waited a long time

I have purchased all and read most of this series (I don't do cliff hangers I wait for the next few books to be released.) It was always my intention after reading this first book to keep coming back to this magical world the authors have created. This audio code was exactly the push I needed.
The audio version brings life and added dimension to this setting and to the characters themselves. I do hope the remaining books will be made available in audio.
The narrator sounds new and maybe a bit tentative at the start but stay with it and she becomes a steady strong voice for this story. I do think she will grow into her role and the story itself is strong enough to allow her voice to seamlessly slip you into this make believe world and silence the voices of the real world around you.
If they are made available I intend on using my credits to purchase this series and enjoy it for years to come!
Worth your credit and time!
