About this listen

It's Gerald Dunwoody's first official government assignment. He's hunting down a deadly saboteur, and time is quickly running out. Old and new enemies combine forces to thwart him. Once again, innocent lives are on the line. He needs his friends. He can't do this alone. But Princess Melissande and Reg have troubles of their own.

With the help of Monk Markham's brilliant, beautiful sister, they've opened a one-stop-shop witching locum agency, where magical problems are solved for a price. Problem is, the girls are struggling to keep the business afloat. Things are looking grim for Witches Incorporated---and that's before they accidentally cross paths with Gerald's saboteur. Suddenly everybody's lives are on the line and Gerald realizes, too late, that there's a reason government agents aren't supposed to have friends.

I didn't enjoy this one as much as The Accidental Sorcerer. I found it hard to believe that the entire cast of characters, except for the 3 friends carried over from the first book, would have such an instant and intense dislike of someone who seems quite likeable, if a bit wishy washy. There seemed to be no reason at all for the dislike and ill treatment. Sure, everybody likes to root for the underdog, but I think they took it a bit far here. It just wasn't believable. I did enjoy the first book, so I may still give the third a try. Same great narrator in this one.

Could Gerald be that unlikeable?

I enjoyed the first book, Accidental Sorcerer, but this one is even better. It is pretty much a guarantee that anyone who liked the first will love this one. The narrator is great, he portrays the characters so well you forget you are listening to only one voice. Though the focus shifts slightly from the main character of the first book to Mellisand, Gerald still plays a large and very interesting part in this one. In fact, it is his character that develops the most by the end of the story. I will definitely get the third one!

I keep Re-Listening to this one!

These characters have great potential inteacting with the characers in other K. E. Mills novels. The plot does nothing for the characters.

Boring
