About this listen

Hope Anderson loves her life. She has a great business that’s thriving, the best friends a girl could ever have, and a coven she can count on. Oh, and she’s been single for over 15 years and likes it that way...until the love of her life, Lucas King, walks back into town and throws everything she thought she knew about herself into chaos.

If that wasn’t enough, now her mother is in town to warn her about a curse that happens to all the Anderson women when they turn 4, and she isn’t talking about hot flashes or mood swings. But maybe the curse isn’t so bad, because now there’s someone distributing dangerous drugs in their quaint town and Hope’s going need that curse to bring down the drug dealers and save everything she loves about Premonition Pointe. The question is, will Lucas prove he deserves to be traveling that line with her, or will she walk away the same way she did fifteen years ago?

It's Hope's turn in book 2 of Deanna Chase's Premonition Pointe series. Hope and Lucas were first loves. They would part to go to college, get back together only to separate again. Now, 20 years later, Lucas is back in Premonition Pointe, supposedly for good. Deanna Chase not only writes about magic, her stories and writing are magic. Narrator Gebra Zackman has a wonderful voice and talented in that you know exactly who is speaking. I'm waiting somewhat impatiently for book 3 in this marvelous series.

Heartfelt and entertaining

A thoroughly entertaining, charming story that starts off with a bang and is full of humor, romance, and mystery. Its awesome characters and friendships leaves you wanting to spend more time in Premonition Point. Which is exactly what I plan to do.

Hope Anderson is a busy woman. Part of a coven of three, along with her best friends and soul-sisters, Grace and Joy. Hope has also just started an event planning service. To complicate things, her mother unexpectedly arrives in town as does her ex-boyfriend and high school sweetheart, Lucas King. He broke her heart twice before and Grace doesn't want to make it a third time. Hope's mother left her when she was just 18 and Hope hasn't completely forgiven her for abandoning her. Then when Lucas left her not once, but twice, Hope doesn't want to get swept up into his orbit again. But she can't avoid it. After agreeing via emails to plan an open house for a new store in town, Hope discovers her latest gig is her ex's new store.

This is an excellent installment in the new Premonition Point series. I enjoyed getting to know Hope after Grace's story. I can't wait to find out what is in store for the newly separated Joy!

When it rains, it pours. Hope has her hands full!! A new coven member, a drug is overdosing people in her town, her telepathic mother is back, the love of her live is back, and she has a fabulous doggie wedding to plan! I'm impressed at how she can manage so many stressful things at once. But with a coven of loyal girlfriends, a mom that wants to let Hope know what she is facing with her future, and a hot guy she has loved since she was seventeen, Hope has all the support she needs to manage through this rough patch of life. I wonder if Hope is hearing wedding bells for those adorable pooches or for herself!?!?!?!?!

Another magical story with romance, hearing other people's thought can not be as nice as you think but sometimes it does helps with getting the bad people.

As I mentioned in my review of the prior volume, this is light entertaining reading not in depth character analysis. Easy to listen to, melodramatic mean girl (women) business at time that seems far from probably, but you always get a happily ever after wrap up. Think Hallmark movie with sprinkles of Lifetime. Know what you are showing up for. These stories feel more surface level entertainment it moves too quickly to go to deep but just enough that you have a somewhat clear idea of what's going on. That being said I find myself entertained and looking up the next volume. Kind of a candy like listen. As others have said this story, like frankly pretty much all cozy style mystery and romance I listen to I don't ever relisten. Like a television series that you enjoy but don't feel compelled to rewatch. I like have main characters being established women who aren't in their early 20s. I enjoy the idea of a coven, though yes magic isn't the main focus on the stories but something that does pop up from time to time, so those seeking really in depth paranormal would likely be disappointed. The romance is here, no sex scenes though they are mentioned, but I also don't feel like this would be a strict romance story either. This is different from the first volume in that there is some mystery but once again that doesn't feel like the total thrust of the tale. This is like a sampler appetizer plate you get to try a little bit of all these genres and completely understand why this won't work for some folks, but when I want to listen to something while I am doing other things and get an occasional laugh or eye roll of drama this story is great for that. I actually really did enjoy Hope's mother coming back and explaining the curse and watching Hope navigate this new issue and how it became a way to enter into the mystery. I found that aspect of this story new and different. The last chapter of the book like the first switches to the POV of the character who will be the protagonist of the next volume (Joy) and their love interest (Troy). Gabra does the same quality as last time, breathy and sultry in a way that makes me laugh and again for me adds to the feel of soap opera melodrama that frankly can just be so fun to listen to. I do listen at a faster speed as she does speak fairly slowly, which means these stories zing by. As I said I find these light, fun, and entertaining for what they are, I don't watch Hallmark expecting Academy Award winning story and performance but I do often leave having laughed and maybe had a silly gasp and a few you have to be kidding me, which sometimes is all we are looking for in an audible. Enjoy!

I love listening to Hope's story! Gabra Zackman does an amazing job narrating. Once you start listening it is super hard to turn it off. I can't wait for the next books in the series to learn more about Hope, Grace, and Joy.

I love Deanna's books so it's no surprise this one was a hit for me. I was unsure about this series initially but I have loved the first 2 books so far, I never should have doubted!

Great Read!
