About this listen

Former marines Early and Behr are looking for the man who killed Early’s wife.

But after the two declare war on the Detroit drug trade in their search for the killer, they realize that none of their training has prepared them for the moment when they come face-to-face with the killer.

A man with a violent history, Early killed 14 men in Afghanistan because they killed his friends. What is he ready to do to the man who killed his loved one?

Two former marines search for the killer of one’s wife. Beyond that, I’ll say no more about the plot for fear of exposing spoilers. This is a great, fast paced novella, sure to entertain you. The flashbacks in the beginning are difficult to follow in the audio format, so keep an ear tuned to the shifts back and forth on the timeline. Once the story gets moving, it moves fast.

The narration is clear and effective

Vigilante Justice

Mr. Wood's tale of a wounded war veteran who is seeking revenge for the death of his wife who he believes was murdered by street gangsters. As the story progresses the reader is shown cracks in the veteran's psyche such as to suggest that he is not all that he seems. Mr. Wood makes excellent use of the classic literary techniques of the unreliable narrator and the twist ending. You definitely will not see the ending coming and I'm not going to spoil it here with a reveal.

Complete with an excellent narration that builds the story as a slow burn this is a great audiobook for a road trip, plane ride or relaxing afternoon on the porch with a beer. My wife and I both enjoyed it. Highly recommended.

An engaging tale with a surprising twist
