About this listen

USA TODAY Best-selling Author of Still Beating, Jennifer Hartmann says, "Paige and Linc had my heart in an iron-clad fist the whole time. The angst, the love, the trauma. Throw in some Buffy references, and this has all my favorite ingredients for a five-star read."

"Till the end.”

PAIGE MICHAELS AND LINCOLN MORROW
Lifelong friends.
First Loves.
And their ending came as most often do. Unexpectedly.

Seven years ago, a vile experience tore the two of them apart, leaving them shadows of their former selves. Ghosts to each other. A haunting.
A haunting so deeply embedded that Linc now lives a reclusive life—hiding out in the Santa Monica mountains with his only friend, Ellis. A quiet existence. Without her.
Paige has barely made it through the loneliest year of her life. Without him, and now, without her Gram. After moving to Hollywood last year, she spends her nights dancing at LA’s most exclusive burlesque club, with only the memory of his dark hazel eyes watching her.
When Paige and Linc’s lives unexpectedly collide at the club, they quickly realize their memories of what happened all those years ago are not the same.
But the gravity of seeing each other again is a crushing weight, and the years of separation have given their trauma nothing but time and space to fester.
Though one thing is clear, even through the blurry, fractured memories . . .
What happened to them sure as hell wasn’t the end.

I knew going into this book that it was going to be emotional, but whew, there is a lot to unpack here. First - definitely pay attention to those trigger warnings. If you're a fan of an emotional journey that was brought on my trauma, this book is for you. It will gut you with its raw, gritty, emotionally overwhelming and tragic pages. I enjoyed the alternating POV between Linc and Pip, and also liked the time hops between the past and present. This story is also written in a way where the reader can feel the emotional toll that these events have on the characters, which will transport you right into the story as if you're living it with them.

The story does end on a cliffhanger and I am definitely hoping that the redemption part of the story is coming because this part is pretty much all emotional turmoil and trauma.

I am always awed by the ability that really good narrators have to convey deep, emotional stories. Shiloh James and Sean Masters did an incredible job here bringing the emotional wounds, trauma, and challenges to reality. This was an incredible performance on their parts that I really think helped to make me feel like I was living this story with the characters.

Without The Moon ACT ONE by Larissa Moyer
Performed in Duet by Shiloh James & Sean Masters

I haven’t had a book that left me heartbroken for characters in a long time. This book will do that to you. I loved the main characters so much, two timelines in which one is their younger selves and the second is very much after the unnamed trauma. The audio by Shiloh James & Sean Masters was so beautifully done. They really captured both characters, the before and the after (because some events just clearly split your life into an after) so beautifully. Sean Masters voice was so rich, I could listen to him narrate anything. If you’re looking for a dark romance that will shatter you, listen to this. I will be patiently anticipating Act Two while picking myself up from the pieces this left me in. As always, check the trigger warnings before reading.

if you're drawn to the dark, twisted type stories, this is top notch for you. sadly, it's not for me otherwise I would've definitely given it 5 stars. the story is gripping, suspenseful... the narration is impeccable (thank God for duet narration). I just don't enjoy the anxiety that comes with suspense. but I when I saw Sean masters as the male narrator, and duet-style narration I blindly added the audiobook. but even after realizing my mistake, the two main characters, especially Linc, will suck you in (a testament to sean master's performance). and even though I had a pretty decent idea of where the story was heading, i still needed to know what happened to him. again if you're into the dark twisted type material, this is for you.
