Max Brooks
"The end was near." Voices from the Zombie War.
The Zombie War came unthinkably close to eradicating humanity. Max Brooks, driven by the urgency of preserving the acid-etched firsthand experiences of the survivors from those apocalyptic years, traveled across the United States of America and throughout the world, from decimated cities that once teemed with upwards of thirty million souls to the most remote and inhospitable areas of the planet.
He recorded the testimony of men, women, and sometimes children who came face-to-face with the living - or at least the undead - hell of that dreadful time. World War Z is the result. Never before have we had access to a document that so powerfully conveys the depth of fear and horror, and also the ineradicable spirit of resistance, that gripped human society through the plague years.

If, on the other hand, you're interested in just how craftily speculative fiction can be employed to critique modern society, this is a masterpiece.
An Oral History (Not like the film)

Any additional comments?
How this author took a done to death concept, mixed it up, and made it fresh & exciting I will never know. There is a reason they made a movie about this with one of the most popular actors on the planet in the lead - A BIG REASON! But good news if you have seen the movie there is lots more they did not film in here for you to listen to. Enjoy!Modern Classic

Would you listen to World War Z again? Why?
It has long been one of my favourite books in written form, and I would definitely listen to it again. It is a fascinating story, either to read or listen to.What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
The various narrators all had accents suitable to their section of the story. This added greatly to the listening experience.Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The part with the K9 teams got to me, and probably would to any dog lover.Any additional comments?
This book has been available in abridged for a while, but I held out for the unabridged version which I hoped would come, and I am so glad I did. The book is very cleverly structured, with each narrative section leading on to the next, and some characters coming back in at later parts of the story. It is a fascinating and "realistic" view of a zombie apocalypse and how it might be rolled back. If you;re looking for gore and schlock horror, this isn't the book for you, but if you;re looking for good writing and characterisation then get this.Well worth the wait - but not a gorefest

It's a really unique way to present a lot of interesting topics covering war, politics, sociology, history and humanity in general. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I liked listening to the stories of the everyday people surviving the Zombie warAny additional comments?
The only bad point is the really really bad Australian accent of one character.Great story, amazing audiobook
