About this listen

In the mist-shrouded haze of the past, the world of Azeroth teemed with wondrous creatures of every kind. Mysterious Elves and hardy Dwarves walked among tribes of Man in relative peace and harmony - until the arrival of the demonic army known as the Burning Legion shattered the world's tranquility forever. Now Orcs, Dragons, Goblins, and Trolls all vie for supremacy over the scattered, warring kingdoms - part of a grand, malevolent scheme that will determine the fate of the world of Warcraft.

Slave. Gladiator. Shaman. Warchief. The enigmatic Orc known as Thrall has been all of these. Raised from infancy by cruel human masters who sought to mold him into their perfect pawn, Thrall was driven by both the savagery in his heart and the cunning of his upbringing to pursue a destiny he was only beginning to understand to break his bondage and rediscover the ancient traditions of his people. Now the tumultuous tale of his life's journey - a saga of honor, hatred, and hope - can at last be told....

I love this book and read or listen to it often. the book tells the tale of Thrall, Warcheif of the Horde. it tells in great detail and emotional feeling how he rises from slavery and manipulation, into a humble and inspiring leader. It also goes to show the meaning of loss, and sacrifice, and how to persevere in those circumstances.

if you are ever even remotely interested in the warcraft universe, do yourself a favor, and read or listen to this at a minimum. you will thank yourself.

Most memorable and favorite Warcraft story.

I have been a long time warcraft fan! Played the games growing up but, never really dug into the history and lore other than the games. Hearing about the story of thrall becoming who he is was amazing and a great way to revitalize my love for world of warcraft. Christie golden has a very unique voice that grows on you quickly. All around 10/10 book and reading.

the whole book is great. Just how Thrall became the war chief I've always wondered.

The story of Thrall is amazing.

Lord of the Clans is a great book. The narration could be better. Having a woman narrate a book dominated by male characters and a male lead, is not the best choice, but it never becomes unbearable. and the fact that it's the author narrating does make it more acceptable.
I also found it a bit confusing in the first half because it often switches between scenes which isn't communicated properly in the narration. A noticeable pause would be nice.

Great book, alright narration

Brilliant story. Loved all of it...even the heartbreak. I just wished it wasn't just Christie narrating and that there were background music for ambiance and sound effects.

For the Horde!

at first, it was a little hard to accept having a female voicing big ol orcs, but since she's the author, she was able to put more character into each voice. Because of this, the whole book came alive and completely drew me in. 10/10 would recommend.

excellent, makes me want more

The story is great, but the author was a poor choice of reader. Her attempt at voice acting is lackluster, and it would have been better of she had just read the thing without attempting to do the voices.

good listen
