About this listen

When the Earth is threatened by a slowly expanding sun, mankind embarks upon a mission to send a mammoth Worldship to settle a new planet across the stars. The preternatural races step out of hiding to work with the humans to save what they can from their dying world. With the aid of the Fae, shape-shifters, vampires, and other creatures of supernatural lore, the Worldship, Leviathan, is complete 1,000 years later.

Lotteries are held and only 12 million souls are selected to make the 10,000-year journey to the new world aboard the multi-generational starship.

The Worldship Files follow the cases of Knith Shade, a human law enforcement officer of the Enforcers Brigade aboard the Leviathan, 5,000 years into her journey.

Knith must investigate a series of grisly murders, where the victims organs are harvested in the back halls of the bulkhead decks of the massive habitation rings of the Leviathan. Where others have failed, she has discovered leads that lead her to the unthinkable, when all signs point to a Fae lady, and not just any lady, but the daughter of Queen Mab herself.

She is driven to solve the murders and bring the perpetrator to justice, even though she knows that merely even suggesting a Fae could have anything to do with the crimes would cause retaliation against Knith's habitation ring, as the magic of the Fae is what is keeping everyone alive on the Worldship. It could be more than simply career suicide.

Enforcer Shade finds herself almost irresistibly drawn to her main suspect, the Winter Maiden, Princess Aurora herself. Secrets are revealed and treachery uncovered, while even more mysteries and questions are unearthed.

Good start

This is a good start to a new series, I love these characters and how funny they are. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I just know that it is going to be just as good as this first book. Erik Schubach never disappoints and this book is no exception.

Very Enthralling

This is the type of book that grabs you from the start. Very well written so that it holds the reader/listener with a reality you can enjoy. Even though it is a fantasy it has a reality you can relate with easily also funny and entertaining. I will recommend it for all people.

Fun feisty police procedural.

Police procedural with a space opera and high fantasy twist.

Fun and bubbly without being too light. Enough seriousness to keep it grounded.

I loved this version

Well I really enjoyed listening to this audio version of the story, and say she has traits of my favorite fairytales character. Daria McQueen. Looking forward to the next one.

Great start to a new series!

So much fun. What is an enforcer on a generational world-ship, traveling from a dying Earth to a new home thousands of years away, to do when investing a series of murders, and the clues point to the daughter of the fairy Queen of the Winter Court, Queen Mab, the very one responsible for the creation of the world-ship Leviathan that's transporting everyone? Suck it up and never give in, and learn some dangerous secrets along the way, and make some even more dangerous enemies.
