About this listen

Death isn't the end.

Marie didn't expect to be given the opportunity to go to a new universe when she died, but when it was offered she held to the offer with all her might.

Taking the name of Talyn, she was accompanied to the new world by the goddess Melody as her assistant, as she seeks out a more rewarding life for herself, no matter what challenges may stand before her.

Even if the introduction of some game mechanics and a goddess to her life has unanticipated consequences.

This is a slow-burn story, with more slice of life sections to it. While it is LitRPG, there are no attributes to speak of.

slow build like I like but lots of super high level characters to show how far she can go.

A Long Tutorial ...

Aside from the fact that nothing major happens, the MC is insufferable with not sense of self security as an otherworlder in a world with clear prejudice against otherworlders. That and she continuously acts like blindly trusting so many with her life's story is perfectly fine, while several figures hear it and immediately think about how to manipulate the MC....so dumb and the ending was like half the book is missing.

Another interesting series

The slow, slice of life pacing is a nice change of pace. I intend my puns! I'm interested to see where this story goes.

One Major Gripe.

The story is better than average as far as the self-insert isekai litrpg genre goes, espcially if your prefer slice-of-life over nonstop progression. The narration was great, and the lack of over-repetition of "stat pages" that plagues the genre is refreshing. However, I have one serious issue with the the main character.

The main character is a Succubus. that reason alone was why I bought this book. And yet. Not ONCE in the entire book does she ever act like a Succubus. She's timid, never acts flirtatious or seductive, focuses herself almost entirely on the combat and dungeon-delving aspects of the world, and while I enjoyed the slow-burn relationship with her Guardian, it's basically platonic with the exception of one fade-to-black scene near the end of the book.

So why make her a Succubus at all, if she's never going to act like a succubus? There were multiple points in the story where her guardian is literally teasining her about how she needs to charm and pleasure people to raise her racial experience, and the MC's only reaction is to blush and change the subject back to being an Adventurer. There's even an entire guild in the city focused soley on Courtesans and the various Social skills that make up such a large part of the rpg element of the world, and the auther just glances over it every time it's mentioned so they can get back to talking about the dungeon delving.

knowing the auther, I wasn't expecting a smutty or explicit story, but I was expecting at least a portion of the story to delve into the fact that the MC IS A SUCCUBUS.

I'm not even going to bother with the second book, since by the brief description it sounds like it's going to be all about her getting stuck in the dangerous dungeon, where I'm sure absolutely nothing Succubus-related is going to occur.

Pathetic MC

When people literally try to murder the MC she is so pathetic that she even tries to save them later. That’s not being a good person that’s being to stupid to survive.

Meh. No bad.

A good premise, decent story telling, reminds me of Beneath the Dragon eye moons a bit, but the MC is a little bit of a wet blanket.
She’s continuously over shadowed by her over-sharing side kick. Who can’t seem stop spilling all the secrets to anyone who will hold still long enough to hear them.
Seemed to pick up a bit at the end and I love Tess Irondale’s narration so, I’ll pick up book two.

very enjoyable

so far so good. Benjamin is great at world building and creating interesting characters. it remains to be seen if his lack of choosing to have the main character with one or more love interests happens in this series or not but I'm hopeful.

Weirdly annoying Ability Spec

I’ve read every single Medrano series at least twice. But this isekai with the most terrible race/class/personality-combo character is the first miss I’ve read.

The world could be interesting, but it’s like watching the worlds dumbest player rolling an Orc stealth-rouge in heavy armor that also took a level in Wizard to do spells and is just bad at everything, but not in a funny way.
