Publisher's summary
As a Victorian clergyman's daughter, Edith Worms has seen everything-until a mythical salamander tumbles out of the fireplace into her lap.
When a letter arrives from estranged relatives, Edith is swept away to a crumbling gothic Abbey in the wilds of Yorkshire. Wormwood Abbey isn't just full of curious beasts and ancient family secrets: there's also a tall, dark, and entirely too handsome neighbor who is strangely reluctant for her to leave.
An unexpected bond with her prickly cousin Gwendolyn gives Edith a reason to stay in this strange world-especially when it turns out that Edith herself may have a role in guarding her family's legacy.
But not all of the mysteries of Ormdale are small enough to fit in her lap . . . and some of them have teeth.
Wormwood Abbey, Book 1 of The Secrets of Ormdale, is a cozy gothic novel of mystery, dragons, and the perils of friendship, perfect for fans of Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries and Maria Grace.

Ashley’s barely found where the paper clips are kept when she’s beset with constituent complaints–from too much noise at the Annual Lupidian Celebration Parade to a trip-and-fall chicken to a very particular type of alien hornet that threatens the very city itself. London, 1894. Albertine Honeycombe never wanted a husband and certainly not the one with fifteen children that her cousin, Aubrey, is trying to marry her off to. She reinvents herself as Countess Von Dagga, a private detective aiding the upper echelons of women in society. As the Countess, she is a married woman, with a conveniently absent husband who doesn’t exist, which allows her far more freedom than being single. When Lord Grendel, from whom she has recovered blackmail letters, is murdered, Albertine is suspect number one—having been the last person to see him.

Ashe, a child of five years, woke to screams of his fellow villagers and animal growls. Terrified, he asked what was going on, but his mother grabbed him and fled their village with his father in hopes to escape the lizardmen that were raiding it. They weren't fast enough. After a plan was made up to split up and meet in a cave not too far away, Ashe's mother rushed towards that direction. Ashe felt better because they were losing the lizardmen, but she tripped and found that her ankle was at an odd angle.

Great story and great narration
WORMWOOD ABBY is excellent, entertain, compelling, interesting, captivating - and every other superlative! I read the book and then listened to the audible and was impressed. The book was great and the audible is even better - which is amazing. I teach filmmaking, and this book is as entertaining and powerful as any movie. Thank you so much!

A classic storytelling vibe
Sometimes you just need a good old fashioned story, and that’s what you get with this one. Loved it and can’t wait to hear the rest of the series when they release in audio version
