About this listen

"Hilarious and irreverent! The only thing I don't like about this is that I didn't think of this premise first." (Steve Hofstetter, comedian)

It's autumn 2001, and a fire-breathing dragon is destroying London. With most of her military overseas, the queen decides to do what previous queens would've done and calls in her knights!

The only problem is that the queen has only knighted celebrities.

Worst Knights Ever is the hilarious tale of four celebrities who volunteer to hunt down the dragon and try and save all of London.

This novel is an R-rated fantasy satire that has been called Jaws meets Ricky Gervais' Extras. Its outrageous, irreverent humor and surprising heart have delighted early reviewers.

The novel is very inclusive and features LGTBQ heroes.

If you like quick wit, some dirty jokes, loving relationships, and brave celebrities who are underprepared and in grave danger, you will love Worst Knights Ever!

Hilariously entertaining

I’ve rummaged through countless “comedy” books, with very few having the ability to make me laugh out loud. So I’m pleased to have given this audiobook a chance and to have actually laughed out loud while listening to it! This is a very refreshing real comedy book in a sea of false promises in the genre. Highly recommend!

Please raise Connery from the grave!

The idea of this book is incredible and I beg someone in Hollywood to pick it up and do the movie version justice. Nonstop from start to finish - it’s a little dark, perfectly crude, funny, and charming all at once.

Extremely Entertaining

To begin, I'll say the narration alone is a reason to pick up this book. there's a vivacity and commitment to character and tone on display in this performance that will keep you hooked from the introduction on.

The story was well ahead of its time when originally conceived and now painstakingly brought to life in an ideal medium. Fun, true fun was penned to the page and the result is a time capsule/love letter to a time, people and comedy style we don't see much of these days.

The book has Dragons and celebrities being called up on to perform the role of Nights. you know what you're getting and you'll be very happy to get it.

Hilarious! Don't miss it!

In 2001, hundreds of years past the need for any queen to need her knights of the roundtable, the Queen of England finds herself in desperate need of assistance. The majority of her military is overseas and there is a fire-breathing dragon flying amok around her beloved England causing fear and havoc. Hence, all the knighted celebrities are called upon to fight the dragon! Yes, including Sir Elton John, Sir Sean Connerly, Sir Michael Caine, Sir Anthony Hopkins, and others seeking to save the day!

The authors, Dane Hanson and Jimmy Paulsen craft a unique and clever tale involving dragons, knights, and damsels in distress! They use R-rated satirical humor to promote the characters and the challenging situations they find themselves. The characters are portrayed as their real-life celebrity personas – high maintenance, James Bond, etc. in this action-packed narrative. Utilizing this approach allows the authors to place the characters into absurd situations while balancing silly humor, parody, and satire. It adds depth to the storyline while also drawing the listener in as they recognize each character by their projected emotions and expected behaviors. Utilizing this writing style enables the authors to demonstrate the extensive and varied societal ignorance of today’s times.

The narrator, Mitch Benn, introduces his performance with his skills or lack of in mimicking the real-life characters. I do have to agree with him, he does an excellent Sean Connerly! He spoke each voice uniquely and consistently. Given some of the bizarre situations and dialogue, I found his ability to keep a straight tone amazing! He was consistent with his voices, keeping them straight while switching from Scottish to English to American with ease!

This is a fun book to be enjoyed and appreciated for what it is – quick-witted, fun, satirical. Especially so because of the hilarity of the character portraying Elton John! So much fun! Don’t miss it – life is too short, and the world is too seriously wrong in many ways!

4.5 Stars - Entertaining

The character work and story line were well written and kept me entertained from beginning to end. The narrator did a fantastic job of breathing life into the story and making it a fun listen. A job well done by both author and narrator. I look forward to seeing what they collaborate on next.

I received a copy of this audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

ridiculously funny!

definitely not for the faint of heart but for the person who loves to laugh. there are enough celebrities in this cast to have you rolling with laughter throughout. I agree with the author, I do wish they would make this one into a movie! I also wish that all the famous people would play themselves and have a bit of humility.

I was laughing out loud! (I don't ever do that)

If this had been a movie I'm certain that way too many of the lines would be regularly quoted by anyone who had ever seen it. Clever, hilarious, crude, and absurd. Loved every minute.

Bonus! One of, if not the best, performances by a narrator that I've ever heard. Perfect fit for this ridiculously entertaining novel.

Make this book a movie - immediately!

Such a fun book. Slightly absurd, but totally hilarious, storyline. Very clever! You can picture it as a movie as you listen.
Also, the narrator is brilliant! Very well done.

This is exactly like what I expect it would be if this were real life. The interactions were funny and made me laugh at several spots.
