About this listen

Gavin McInnes is more than just a rude lunatic who keeps getting beat up. He is an icon who personifies irreverence for an entire generation. This is his story, or, rather, stories - lots of them, and all gut-punchingly hilarious, from that first far reach into a girl's tight jeans to turning forty with a cataclysmic party.

In between you’ll hear about acid trips, threesomes, Nazi skinheads, his band Anal Chinook (Inuit for “warm wind”), Martians in northern Canada, throwing pedophiles in jail, dinner with the Clash, what happens when you crash Bill Maher's show wasted, and the true story of Vice magazine. A gifted writer and a born storyteller, McInnes has lived his life without apology. Learn from it.

What does Gavin McInnes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I'm so glad Gavin narrated, it made the experience that much more enjoyable. You get to hear him talking in the various accents of the people in his life, mimicking bodily sound effects, and most important you can hear the authentic emotion in his voice as only the person who lived the events can truly express.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It definitely made me laugh, but its not all comedy, there are sentimental parts too.

Any additional comments?

Note that there is pornographic level detail in the stories and many of them involve drug use. If that doesn't scare you go ahead and get it. It's a interesting/crazy story of an interesting/crazy man with guaranteed laughs.

Hysterical!

This is a very raunchy, wild, and hilarious compilation of stories from Gavin's life. It was made even more entertaining by Gavin's own narration. He does voices, accents, and exclamations that really add to the experience. I have not read the hard copy but I would imagine you get a better experience hearing it straight from Gavin on audio.

Narration makes audiobook even better

as someone who has had radical experiences growing up in the military, and then settling down, this one's my heart that I was not as depraved, drug-addled, or as stupid as Gavin. I really enjoy his political commentary and pseudo anarchistic world view.

I love Gavin, I think he’s a really interesting and smart guy. This book probably made me look kinda dumb a few times because I couldn’t stop myself from laughing at stop lights while in the car by myself. Plus there’s a ton of great quotes and old sayings that I’m stealing.

Awesome book.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Death of Cool to be better than the print version?

This book hit me at right time. Gavin tells a good story and his cast of characters is truely entertaining. I bet I could party with guy not that he has grass.

What about Gavin McInnes’s performance did you like?

his cast of characters

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

not really , but i don't think any book is.

Right Book at the Right time

Worth every second. I don’t typically review anything. Gavin doing most the voices in typical Gavin nature is like listening to a best buddy telling you about getting beaten up by his skinhead mom.

The worlds most interesting man
