Knowledgeable

This book makes publishing seem more realistic and gives good milestones for working. I wish it had more about storytelling processes.

Helpful but informal

This book was a quick and dirty run down of tips and tricks for new authors. As an aspiring author, it was informative, but not groundbreaking. I was slightly offput by the informal nature, but that is a personal preference. There are some good tips on getting an ebook out there and visible, and this book has caused me to rethink some of my writing plans to tackle short stories first and get them out there to build a reader base

Very Helpful

A very helpful book for direction and motivation to write in one of the listed genres. Being a horror writer myself I find it difficult for direction to get work done. This book has definitely assisted me with this issue.

more of a how-to make money on short fiction

This one is more of a plea to write short fiction and a guide to how you can make money at it than any sort of how-to write good short fiction in a genre. I liked it for what it is and hadn't really thought of short fiction (in sci-fi, fantasy and/or horror) as a viable way to make some side money. But the author shows you how you can take a small to medium sized catalog of short stories in a one of those genre's and end up with 20 different saleable items (individually, anthologies, print, large print, audio, etc...).

There really is no advice here on HOW to write good, compelling short stories, or what makes a good short story in any of the genre's, but there's plenty of books and youtube videos for that.

All in all, I thought it was worth the money.

Not trash but a bit obvious

The content of this book is perfectly fine and honestly there were a handful of useful bits. There's also a strange inexplicable list of different types of accents that goes on for a comically long time.

The content was fine. The narration made me feel like I was having a stroke. I'm super confused as to what happened, it's like it wasn't edited in any way. I thought it was a computer voice for awhile due to the strange inflection and herky-jerky cadence, but then at one point I heard the narrator stifle a gurgling burp in his throat. His voice is really impressive sounding so I'm hesitant to blame him for the bad reading and blame it more on a lack of polish after it was recorded.

Very strange.

Pep talk. Not much more.

This is a pep talk with a little advice on the business side of writing. There is very little said about the craft of writing. It has its place, but look elsewhere if want fresh insights on how to tackle the actual work of writing.

wow, not what I was looking for.

I was looking for something, maybe a guide or "how to" for writing short stories. that is NOT this book. this book is an attempt to convince you to write short stories. if you have already decided to write then you don't need this book. I kept waiting and waiting for the advice for how to write....I think the three act structure was brought up once. like I said, this book will NOT help you write.
