About this listen

Having ascended the throne to become God King of Emberland, Xander Blackfire, the most powerful manipulator of Flame on Xeraxia, must contend with the righteous anger of the Kingdom of Coldwind. That Kingdom on the other side of the treacherous River Reach has suddenly demanded that House Blackfire pay a heavy price for the crimes it has committed against the Frostfolk since the inception of both nations.

As a new arrival to planet Xeraxia, King Xander realizes he lacks the context and knowledge he needs to respond properly and fairly to the people of Coldwind. Even still, his ignorance does not erase the debt that his Kingdom owes, nor the threat that now rises across the River because of it. As he wrestles with his own government, and a befouling, existential threat that seeks to destroy the very Equilibrium itself, he must also grapple with haunting visions of the past, queer love, and rebellious citizens who view his reign as heretical. With all the turmoil unfolding in Emberland’s borders, now is the perfect time for Coldwind to strike.

I feel like I can write a whole paragraph on how much I enjoy this series, but I will keep it short. To create a world as well fleshed out as Xeraxia takes a lot of talent, and I wish there were more queer fantasy like it. The story is so enthralling that I honestly could have finished a lot sooner but I wanted to savor it. I can’t wait to see more of Xander’s character and relationships develop. Hopefully, the next one is as long as this one.
