Publisher's summary

Thousands of people leave Christian ministry every month. They have not lost their love for Christ or their desire to serve him. But for one reason or another, they are exhausted and simply cannot carry on.

Christopher Ash knows this experience all too well. As a pastor of a growing church, and then in his role training people for ministry, he has found himself on the edge of burnout a number of times and has pastored many younger ministers who have reached the ends of their tethers.

His wisdom has been distilled into this short, accessible audiobook, in which he reveals a neglected biblical truth and seven keys that flow from it. Understood properly, and built into our lives as Christians who are zealous to serve the Lord, they will serve to protect us from burnout and keep us working for God's kingdom and glory.

Well distilled advice for clergy or business professional

Christopher humbly presents well-distilled, Christ focused advice for those striving tirelessly to “do with all their might” what God has called them to. It is all too easy to lose balance and expend more than our earthbound frames can take. Chris’s advice on recognizing the difference between sacrifice and self-harm is excellent as are some ideas to find remedy per advice in Psalm 127:2 and other truths. As a business director myself, this work is excellent for godly CTOs, CEOs, and Pastors alike and possible to listen at 2X within 90 minutes ;-)

Concise, clear, vulnerable, and moving

Book features an explanation of burnout and a gathering of short testimonies from Church leaders who have experienced burnout. These stories will be relevant and relatable for anyone who has experienced it. As one who is coming out on the other side of burnout, the discussion from Psalms’ rebuke of restlessness, our frame of dust, and God being God was my greatest takeaway that I want for my future work in ministry.
Thank you, Christopher!

good practical advice

this book was a good companion to "crazy busy" by Kevin Deyoung. crazy busy focused more on Biblical principles, while zeal without burnout gave good practical advice, along with warning signs that you are beginning to burn out.

Zeal without Burnout

Zeal without burnout should be a required read for Christian leaders. With the demands of ministry, family, the pressure to perform, and life overall this book helps to put things into prospective. It gives practical steps to avoid burnout as well as practical steps if burnout has occurred. I read this book in one setting.

Realistic and practical approach.

I'm not a pastor or a minister, but the principles laid out are still applicable to every Christian working in the secular field.
