I enjoyed 75% of the stories in this awesome book.

This was the biggest collection of zombie stories, I recommend it to all horror fans. The "Night of the living dead" zombie stories are my favorite but the voodoo and Haitian zombies were interesting.. Please do yourself a favor and grab this anthology and hold on tight!

A Guide to Haitian Zombies

The narration was excellent and the stories were enjoyable. The reasons I gave 3 stars overall are the following: 1) primarily about Haitian zombies, 2) got burned out on all the Haitian zombie stories, 3) most of the stories, it seemed to me, where from the 1920-1950s and 4) the last story is actually book length it's chapters 159-184, over 6 hours!!!!! It was struggle to finish the last story since I wasn't expecting a book length story and I kept wondering will this ever end. For 1 credit, it is worth it. I just hope my warning about the last story helps you start out listening in a different mindset than I had when I entered into it.

I really liked all these stories

I’d never actually read an hp lovecraft story but now I’ve heard so many great stories by many authors I’d never heard of! This was hours of great listening

Amazingly entertaining collection

Zombie stories have never been particularly interesting to me, so I was VERY surprised at how much I enjoyed this collection. I love books and will read from many genres, though I tend to favor Horror and old school 'Weird Tales', which made this a perfect fit for me despite the Zombie title. Otto Penzler did an amazing job of tracking down stories that encompass every possible definition of 'Zombie Story', from the current depiction of brain-eating Monsters to. what certain ancient beliefs of foreign cultures would define as a zombie. I have a special kind for short stories but I know as well as anyone that NO Anthology is without their weaknesses, BUT considering the huge amount of contents in this book, there were very few that I skipped before the end and most of these, I'm sure to listen to multiple times. This is a great book and has thankfully led to my discovery of a few other Penzler 'Big Books' that one enjoyed as well!

I thought I liked all things zombies until this. completely blah collection of blah stories. forcing my way through it with the blind hope that it can't be all bad.

I think I understand….

The stories were mostly older. The more I listened the more I thought. “ Longest collection of racism.”

Bland and unseasoned

Not very interesting to me personally. I found some stories really interesting but this is not a zombies book. You are not gonna get the living dead, brain eaters or shambling corpses. If that’s what you wanted then turn away. If not then yeah check it out.

white men writing racist sexist "zombie" stories.

I struggle with this anthology. their is enough racism against Haitians to last a lifetime. The book Z is for Zombie is the worst for it. you will also get your fill of white male saviors and weak women. it's evident that what was considered good between the 1920s and 1960s is completely different from now. These stories are absolutely a product of their time. just know what you are getting into.

Just a collection of racist offensive crap stories

The narration was poor especially the female reader. I had to slow down the speed because she read so fast, like she was paid to show off her speed reading skills. The stories themselves were so horribly racist, I couldn’t finish listening. I really wish someone had commented on this, I definitely would have passed on wasting my credit on this piece of crap!
