About this listen
It's pernicious...it's diabolical...it creeps into every moment of our lives. It influences our relationships, impacts our physical body, works its way into our conversations, sparks non-nourishing behaviors, and forces us to do things we'd never want to do. It's infectious; it's relentless.... It's stress! We all know it. We all experience it. It's the human condition - but through this audiobook, you will learn to transcend it.
Drawing on decades of experience working with individuals in extreme, high-pressure situations - including business leaders, world-class athletes, members of the military, Special Forces, and those in crisis - davidji will show you how to handle any type of stress that life throws at you. Just as he demystified the practice of meditation in his award-winning book Secrets of Meditation, in this impactful audiobook, he will teach you proactive tools to breathe more easily, master your emotions, communicate more effectively, cultivate more nourishing relationships, and perform at a higher level.
With his trademark easy-to-understand and entertaining teaching style, davidji will transform your understanding of stress using time-tested techniques; cutting-edge science; real-world, practical applications; and in-the-moment stress busters. How you respond to the world around you determines the fabric of your life - and one listen of destressifying will enhance your performance at work, at home, and in the face of daily surprises. This audiobook will allow you to determine the speed at which life comes at you and guide you to deeper fulfillment, greater empowerment, and true peace of mind.

Whether you're a Fortune 500 CEO or busy stay-at-home mom, the secret to being more effective and living a happier, healthier life is to hurry up and slow down, or unplug. As Anne Lamott said, "Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you." Contrary to what every Type-A person thinks, studies show that you can actually be more effective by doing less, by unplugging from the chaos of your life for just minutes a day.

After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

The inner critic might feel overpowering, but it can be managed effectively. Meditation teacher and therapist Mark Coleman helps listeners understand and free themselves from the inner critic using the tools of mindfulness and compassion.

16 seconds to presence
I read a book called The 5 second rule by Mel Roberts. Then I read this book by DavidJi and I call them the 21 second rule. I was using the 5 second rule to change my state. now I do 16 seconds of a feeling my breathing to change my state. If you stop and truthfully shield the breath enter and exit your lungs for 16 seconds you can change your state.
At first I was having trouble with this. we learned so many techniques that we have to continue to remember them all in order to use them. In other words you'll learn so many techniques it's which one do you use at one point in time and in what situation. By just following your breath you don't need to remember all the techniques. I combined the 5 second and 16 second rules. I work a support room and I have found that sometimes she's finding the breath is difficult and therefore I can buy these two techniques. I encourage people to read this book and I took the author's class through Hay House and found dead it's beneficial as well. I also beginning a three-time a day meditation practice which I haven't been doing until I took the author's class to Hay House.

Fantastic content and narration
The first part of the audiobook defines stress and presents scientific research of its source and its impact. Practical advice follows on how to "destressify" and in the process to realize your best self.
The content was presented clearly, without a lot of mysticism, and davidji's narration was terrific.
I highly recommend this audiobook.
