About this listen

How can we live our lives when everything seems to fall apart—when we are continually overcome by fear, anxiety, and pain? The answer, Pema Chödrön suggests, might be just the opposite of what you expect. Here, in her most beloved and acclaimed work, Pema shows that moving toward painful situations and becoming intimate with them can open up our hearts in ways we never before imagined. Drawing from traditional Buddhist wisdom, she offers life-changing tools for transforming suffering and negative patterns into habitual ease and boundless joy.

I'm not a practicing Buddhist and still take issue with some principles of the practice however this book seems to be essential reading for learning how to accept our world as it is and our place in it..

Unlike other titles by other authors like, "true refuge" Pema Chidron gives a concise, clear, easy to follow and digestible account of how to let your false self go and become more present and at ease with the world.

Grounding Voice of Reason Book

Incredible, timeless learnings. Unfortunately the reader delivered in a sing-song-y, breathy manner that felt disconnected to the message. For me, it was difficult to pay attention, hearing it read in what felt like a children’s book kind of voice, while the contents are mature, deviously funny, and profoundly severe. This made me doubt that the reader had any experience with the teachings, creating a disconnect that was almost insurmountable. I would love to have heard the author read it, or at least someone who had personal experience with what was being read.

Solid message, read in the wrong tone
