Publisher's summary

All women need their own simple pleasures....

Jean and Rosie are involved in a new adventure together-one they're both excited about - and they'll introduce you to some interesting characters along the way.

While Jean is also busy dealing with numerous man issues, her best friend, Rosie, has plenty of issues of her own: she's facing empty nest syndrome, her husband is recovering from heart surgery, and she's finally prepared to solve a deep, dark secret from her past. Then, there's the unexpected news that could shatter her optimism and faith.

In Woolen Bikinis is an engaging story about the unpredictable twists and turns that can happen in any woman's life, as well as a strong friendship, one Jean and Rosie are fortunate to have, that can help carry one through.

It's also about simple pleasures, plenty of them (like woolen bikinis). Be prepared to be delighted!

worth a credit

I was gifted this audio ARC for a honest and unbiased review from the author/narrator
Catherine Dougherty did a good job of telling this almost true to life book of friends who are over 50. One of which is separated from her husband. The others husband was operated on for his heart. Meanwhile, Jean and Rosie have just opened a new business together. I liked how the story shows problems of the characters were issues dealing with real life. Unfortunately there were a lot repeated statements or explanatiinstall and that was a bit tedious.
Carolyn Power did a good job telling the story, voicing each character,
If you like cozy mystery books you'll like this one. Count on it as a good use of credit

The warmth of a great friendship

If you could sum up in Woolen Bikinis (Jean and Rosie Series) (Volume 2) in three words, what would they be?

friendship - eventful, compassionate

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rosie. Sweet and even somewhat childish, at the same time she has great depths of wisdom and courage.

What about Carolyn Power’s performance did you like?

Carolyn Power's performance is simply remarkable. She is a one woman acting troupe! Each character has his or her own voice so that you feel you really know these people well. At the same time you forget that Carolyn is even there, because she immerses you in the story. Carolyn's voice is full of compassion and warmth; she is like a wonderful friend and companion and because of that she is able to convey the specialness of the great friendship between Jean and Rosie. I must say that having finished this second volume of the series, and having enjoyed two volumes of the Jean and Rosie series, I really miss the story and Carolyn's wonderful voice. Can't wait for the third installment!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

At times this book made me cry and often it made me laugh. It is serious yet often funny.

Any additional comments?

I love the store that the two friends have created - knitting and books! This friendship is deep on so many levels, yet each friend has her own individual personality and they sometimes disagree. But with this store they have created something wonderful together. The store brings in their families, their friends, and even a very special surprise - a very important surprise - for Rosie! But I won't give it away.
