About this listen

On a cold Valentine's Day in Chicago, Amy White, a young widow who lost her husband to cancer, visits the cemetery and makes an unsettling discovery: a bouquet of fresh daffodils lying in front of her husband's grave.

Curiosity grows into obsession as Amy searches for the stranger who left the flowers, while keeping her activities a secret from her live-in mother and seven-year-old son. The search leads to an unusual friendship that transforms her world and redefines her life.

An enjoyable read!

Would you consider the audio edition of A Widow Redefined to be better than the print version?

Yes. I loved listening to this book. I absorb more when I do audiobooks as the narrator adds excitement to the story in all the right places.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I liked Amy, but I liked Sabrina even more. Sabrina was so laid back & easy going. She understood Amy in ways Amy never understood.

What about Teri Schnaubelt’s performance did you like?

I like her ability for the different voices. The book was read very smoothly. It was relaxing to hear her read this book.

If you could rename A Widow Redefined, what would you call it?

I wouldn't change a thing! I found this book to be perfect exactly as it is!

Any additional comments?

Great story & plot! The author drew me in from the cemetery & held my interest thru the entire book! The narrator did a fantastic job reading this & added to the story with her voices and accents. I loved the voice she did for Sabrina, capturing an eccentric feeling. It made me believe the story as real.

Great Book! Fabulous Narration!

This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBlast.com

Narration - Teri Schnaubelt - REALLY good! Her character's were all distinct and all right where they needed to be. Nothing was over the top. Great job!

Not sure what to say about this book. I really enjoyed it, to the point that when it was over, I was disappointed. I wanted more book!

It's a story about friendship, dealing with grief, learning to go on. It's almost a mystery in the way it is laid out. I honestly had no idea which way the story was going to go, what the point was, what was going to happen, why their strange friendship happened, so I just sat back and enjoyed and let the narrator take me through the story.

Favorite Character is her son! Such a little man!

So I guess my only complaint was that it ended. I'm such a whiner :)

Great book. Fabulous Narration!

That is all!

A Wonderful Book About a Chance Encounter!

Would you listen to A Widow Redefined again? Why?

Yes I would read 'A Widow Redefined' again. I really enjoyed this book. It was sweet, heartfelt, and well written.

What did you like best about this story?

I like the way this story exeplifies a widow's or anyone's ability to trust another person under the strangest of circumstances. It showed strength in diversity. Amy and Sabrina were from two different worlds, backgrounds. It was really good.

What about Teri Schnaubelt’s performance did you like?

Teri Schnaubelt has a beautiful sweetness to her voice that I really liked. Her voice has great flow and was perfect in this book. I Loved it!

If you could take any character from A Widow Redefined out to dinner, who would it be and why?

I would have to say Sabrina. I think she was a good person inside and maybe somewhat needy for friendship and closeness considering her background without giving the story away.

Any additional comments?

I would like to listen to more books written by Kim Cano. I like her style. Also I will listen to more books narrated by Teri Schnaubelt because I think she has a beautiful voice. I received this audiobook free of charge in exchange for an unbiased review.

not what I was expecting....

Any additional comments?

This book was not quite what I was expecting. (I thought it would be mystery into who or if Amy, the main character's husbond was cheating with)
It was very refreshing that the author had found a very different plot. It turned out to be a very warm, story.(a bit dificult to describe which type of story it is) A touch of mystery , a hint of romance but otherwise just a very enjoyable journey of grieving widow, with ups and downs, finding there is light on the other side.
Once again brilliant narration by Teri Schnaubelt

Unusual circumstances

Being a recent widow, I was drawn to this title. Although under very different circumstances I enjoyed listening to this unusual story.

A compelling listen all the way to the end.

I did not have any extreme reactions to the book. I did not laugh or cry, but I did listen to it compulsively to find out why the other woman was leaving flowers at Justin's grave, and how, when Alice got to know this woman, someone so different from herself, would influence Alice's and Tyler's life. There were so many directions the story could go, you couldn't tell ahead of time where the narrative would lead. I guess you would call it an easy addictive read, perfect as a summer indulgence. I read multiple books at once, but I found myself listening to this one exclusively until I was finished. I especially liked the drawn out denouement over the last five chapters. I like to revel in my happy ends, and this book gave me plenty of opportunity to do so.

I liked the relationship between Alice and her son Tyler. She was not overprotective, or consumed by fears and worries, but was confident that her son's good sense, and the upbringing she had given him, would guide him correctly. She gave him the freedom to explore and develop his new skills in art and parkour. Although she was acutely aware of everything he did, his every expression and reaction, she let him make his own choices. And that was very similar to the way her mother, who lived with Alice and Tyler after Justin's death, treated Alice herself. Alice's mother was sensitive to Alice's every mood, but did not try to impose her own ideas of what was best and right to do on her daughter.

Heartfelt and Enjoyable

If you could sum up A Widow Redefined in three words, what would they be?

Touching, honest, and heartfelt

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was Amy White because I felt her pain and despair over losing her husband Justin to cancer. I also grew with her as she found a way to overcome her loss through an unexpected friendship. The honesty of the emotion really stood out.

What does Teri Schnaubelt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Teri did am excellent job narrating the story and added just enough inflection, accent, and characterization to make each character stand out as a unique element in the story. I really felt like I got a feel for each character as a unique individual.

Who was the most memorable character of A Widow Redefined and why?

Amy White is the most memorable because the story tells her story of love, loss, growth, and finally acceptance.

Any additional comments?

This is the first audio book I have ever listened too and I really enjoyed the audio book experience.

Likeable Characters

Is there anything you would change about this book?

It took until almost the end of the book to understand Sabrina's character and her relevance to the story.

If you’ve listened to books by Kim Cano before, how does this one compare?

This is the first Cano book for me

Which scene was your favorite?

I actually liked Miguel's character and liked the CD he made for Amy

Do you think A Widow Redefined needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Because I liked Miguel's character it would be nice to see a relationship form between him and Amy
