Publisher's summary

They said we were soulmates...and we were. Even the stars agreed. But fate did not....

Tomboy Cam Swayne is determined that football hero, Jake Phillips, keeps his eyes firmly on her. After all, she’s been his since before she was born.

Cam has grown up so close to Jake that it’s as if she’s his left arm. They’ve played together on the street and at the lake since she could walk. Plus, they’ve saved each other in some pretty miraculous ways that even their parents found hard to believe. So, it’s only natural that, when hormones kick in, Cam feels like Jake belongs only to her.

Jake doesn’t admit it to anyone, but he’s only himself when the girl next door is at his side. Even though he’s three years older than her and there’s a whole string of reasons for them not to be together, he can’t seem to walk away from the one girl who makes him feel whole.

But what happens when it’s not just the long line of “gaggling geese” following him around that gets in Cam’s way? What happens when it’s the illness that Jake hides from everyone? Will Cam ever get the happily ever after she’s looking for?

"Loving you was a race I was determined to win."

Inspired by Taylor Swift songs, comes the award-winning coming-of-age novel about aching love and loss and learning to live again.

My Life as a Country Album is not to be missed!

Camden( Cam) and Jake were childhood friends. Jake is 3 years older than Cammy. He saved her from a fall when she was three and he was six. They were inseparable as children. This story chronicles their journey. It is one of the best audiobooks I’ve ever experienced. And I do mean experience! You will feel every emotional up and down! The narrator was superb! Do not pass up this book!

Heart-wrenching yet beautiful

This story is so beautiful yet heart breaking. This story moved me in ways I did not think possible. It has been almost a month since I read this book and it is still at the forefront of my mind whenever I listen to music. L.J. Evans has a way of connecting real life events to songs we hear everyday that I have never seen done before. To this day, this book still affects my heart. I even find it hard to write this review without getting emotional. It is absolutely amazing and ripped me apart in the most beautiful way possible.

The narration was beyond perfect. The way Sarah brings out all of the emotions with her voice is something that brings this audiobook to the next level. Her southern accent and male voice are absolutely amazing and make this audio even better!

Blown Away

I don't even know where to begin with this review. I think Sarah did an amazing job narrating this story and bringing so much life and depth to these characters I was part of their story. She made the transition between the characters so easy to listen to and such a pleasure to listen to.

This story -- WOW!!!! These characters and their story were so well written. I knew my heart was about to be ripped apart and every chapter I stated had me wondering if this was it. Truly this story is one of the most beautiful love stories and while for sure it ripped out my heart and left me ugly crying LJ Evans found a way to put me back together. I found the author did an amazing job providing the back story and just the flow of the story was the right way to be done. She hooks you in and just won't let you go. This was my first book by this author and I am so excited to read more.

Warning! Tear Jerker!

This is my first book by this author and narrator. I'm not a country music fan at all but as I got into the story it really didn't matter. I didn't get the references but I didn't care. This story starts off right into a memory and your not sure at first what's going on. But by the 2nd chapter you are fully engrossed in these children's lives. and then adolescents and then adulthood. I'm not a teaser writer and I don't like spoilers but make sure your not in public after 2/3 through. Trust me. I listened to this while working and I had to go into the bathroom and have a good old cry!! It's been a good 5 yrs since a book made me cry let alone ball. Just thinking about it for hours and hours after I still could just start to cry. Don't let that stop you from experiencing this book. I couldn't recommend it more. Sometimes a good cry is cathartic and this book is the medicine to help bring on the release.

Cam & Jake's story was beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. Again, Sarah did a wonderful job narrating.

Interesting

I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This story was interesting in that the whole story was told by the narrator as if she is writing to a dead person. She goes through their whole life remembering things. The conclusion was good in that even after the pain she was able to find happiness with someone she knew from growing up. The narrator was good and spoke in a southern droll.

AMAZING LOVE STORY!!

So I just picked this book up on a whim. “Eh, sure sounds good. Something different and I’ve never tried this author before.”

This reads like a woman reading back the story of the love of her life and it’s EVERYTHING. I was pleading with the hero to open his eyes, celebrating when he does and bawling my eyes out. This was so sooooo amazingly good I can’t wait to dive into book 2!!

I do want to mention with the heaviness of this story it DOES have a HEA. Trust. 💗

My Life as a Country Album

Wow I was blown away by this book. I rarely read blurbs so I had no idea what I was really in for here. I just knew they were childhood BFFs and it came with a music soundtrack toeing into the story (I adore books like that). Cam writes this book to Jake using songs at the start of each chapter to tell their story. I’m not a huge T Swift fan so I didn’t know all these songs but I listened to them along the way. I won’t say too much about their journey other than it was hard in so many ways, but ultimately beautiful. I was happy with the ending. And I can’t wait to read more form this author.

Beautiful

I experienced so many emotions reading through this book. It made me laugh and then promptly burst into tears. This book (and the songs that go along with the chapters) couldn't be any more perfect. Just a beautiful listen!
