Dr. Sanghamitra "Mitra" Sadhu is a nephrologist who wanted to serve patients within the insurance network without sacrificing quality of care. She innovated lean practice solutions - low overhead clinical practices - to facility insurance based care without a high volume schedule. Dr. Daniel Hochman, a board certified psychiatrist, knew he wanted his career to look different than the status quo but was told that his dream practice was not possible. He began his career as an employed physician and quickly realized that he needed to build his own practice to serve patients the way he knew he could. His desire to bridge the gaps between psychiatry, therapy and human behavior drove him to create an online addiction recovery program and center his medical practice around psychotherapy and behavioral change.

Dr. Mary Reilly learned early in her career, "Just ask." She describes how she opened doors to unheard of opportunities by simply asking a question. By asking "Is this possible?" she found improbable career pivots gave her the confidence to build a practice outside of the Emergency Room.

Dr. Liz Lowden, an endocrinologist, left her corporate medicine job, opened a private practice, worked in telemedicine, went through a buyout, did consulting work, and endured burn out. Throughout all of this, she felt that she was trying "fit a mold of who she should be."

In an effort to model for her daughters how to show up as their authentic selves, she found a surprising creative outlet of color analysis. This work provided language and skills to align her internal desires with how she presented herself in the external world. This created space for all of her interests - while making peace with medicine.

Dr. Ritha Belizaire is a dual board certified general and colorectal surgeon and the owner of Houston Community Surgical, a solo private practice in the Houston Heights neighborhood. She launched her practice when she recognized how undervalued she felt in her academic practice and came to terms with the impostor syndrome that was holding her back.

Dr. Belizaire is passionate about providing accessible and equitable surgical care to the Greater Houston
community. She understands many colorectal related issues are sensitive and embarrassing for patients to discuss, even with their doctors. She aims to provide a safe environment for patients to talk about all factors of their colorectal health to ensure the best outcomes for her patients.

Dr. Laurel Fick, an Internist in residency program leadership, became disenchanted with training new physicians to work in our broken healthcare system. She missed one on one time with patients and wanted to model a novel, sustainable patient care. "It feels so good to actually be working to fix the system with my practice and opportunities to share my experience with others instead of just being stuck inside of it." She now runs her own micro practice dedicated to the care of complex Internal Medicine patients.
