• Episode 14: Grief and Love
    Feb 24 2024

In this episode, I discuss grief and love. Grief is something that touches every one of us, at some point in our lives. It’s a universal human experience, but grief is also deeply personal and unique to each individual. Love often finds expression in various creative forms, such as art, music, poetry, and more.  It is more than just an emotional expression, it is an action. We all experience and demonstrate love differently. I process coping with the grief of Kobe Bryant and exploring love- the lyrics behind, “When it hurts so bad” by Lauryn Hill.

The Dr. Alisha Podcast features Dr. Alisha Rorer, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Atlanta, GA, engaging in conversations about life, love, and relationships that will inspire, enlighten, and help you connect to yourself and others. "What's the lyrics" is my metaphoric approach to unpacking all the things in between the lines.  Please note that this podcast should not be a replacement for therapy. • Episode 10: Poetry: Expressions
    Aug 10 2022

In this episode, I share a short poem that I wrote in 2010, Expressions. Expressing your emotions can be difficult at first but the result is liberating. I believe that when we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. Emotions give meaning to the story and paints a descriptive picture to what we are trying to express. I offer a few reflective questions at the end.

  • Episode 8: How to Communicate a Healthy Apology
    Jul 27 2022

In this episode, I discuss how to apologize with genuineness, empathy, and validation. One common struggle that I found in my work with couples in therapy, is their inability to apologize. Some people find it difficult or refuse to take accountability for their actions. They play the victim or minimize the magnitude of the problem. Learning a healthy way to communicate your apology and accept an apology is a foundational tool in any type of relationship.
