Story
The Sussex Beekeeper at the Dawn of Time is an unconventional and breath-taking tour de force that flirts with the crossover and steampunk genres. The book knits together a transcribed oral memoir, newspaper clippings, and myriad letters and journal pages from across two millennia, much of it held together by the pithy comments of a certain elderly beekeeper residing in Sussex, England. While comparatively few, these notes are nonetheless the essential marble skeleton on which the whole denouement and structure of the book hangs.

Who killed Eric Davenport? A senior mathematics professor at Underhill College has been found dead in his office, the victim of murder. At Underhill, a small liberal arts college with a pricy tuition and a pampered student body, all of the students are close to their professors. But at least one loved Eric Davenport in a deeply inappropriate fashion. Some hated him. And then there is the faculty at war with itself. And the idiotic administration. And the twin boys who live next to campus. And what’s with all those praying mantises?

Story
Harrow-on-the-Hill, March 1836: In a sense, orphans Ollie, John and Arthur have always been treasure hunters. The mudlarks have gone from a hardscrabble life scavenging the banks of the Thames for bits and bobs to becoming students at a boarding school outside of London, thanks to the kind and generous intercession of Charles Dickens. But now they're missing—as is, apparently, a treasure map. When Charles arrives at the school, he's hit with another twist—the servant girl who was allegedly in possession of the map has been strangled in the icehouse.

Story
If we transport livestock over the roads today, could it be possible that aliens did too when we humans were in our Wild West period of development? What if it were true, and one alien cargo ship broke down around Earth, suffered a malfunction, and a weird animal creature catapulted to Earth in a broken containment cell? Now imagine it was found by the most contradictory of outlaws in the West, with a shady past and a wicked sense of personality yearning for redemption. Now pretend the aliens are forbidden to enter Earth, to retrieve the animal, because of a law in the galaxy.

This story takes Melville’s "Bartleby the Scrivener" and mashes it up with high school football to make a looney story of a player getting on the coach’s last nerve. If you played high school football (or any sport) you will love this story. This audiobook is dedicated to my football coaches. Especially the one who I’ve contributed to their bald spots and chewed me out when I had it comin’.

Story
The movie “Little Big Man,” impressed me a lot. I love it. But it got me to thinking of all the wonderful roles Dustin Hoffman brought to life on the big screen, and as I was going through all of those roles, from Ben Braddock in “The Graduate,” to Ratso Rizzo in “Midnight Cowboy” and Louis Dega in “Papillon,” and Michael Dorsey in “Tootsie,” that I could combine all of those roles into one film. So an already silly story became even sillier. I even worked in a portion of “Rain Man.” I hope you will get as much pleasure reading it as I had in writing it.

And they’re both on balmy Little Crescent Island for the same reason: To write the biography of a woman no one has seen in years—or at least to meet with the octogenarian who claims to be the Margaret Ives. Tragic heiress, former tabloid princess, and daughter of one of the most storied (and scandalous) families of the 20th Century.
