En esta obra se ha realizado una recopilación de las frases y consejos más relevantes. Se ha adaptado el lenguaje utilizado para hacerlo más comprensible por el lector contemporáneo. Todo ello para que el lector encuentre una filosofía de vida que le sirva para ser feliz de manera sencilla, evitando las preocupaciones superfluas.

Lucius Annaeus Seneca (4 BC-AD 65) is one of the most famous Roman philosophers. Instrumental in guiding the Roman Empire under emperor Nero, Seneca influenced him from a young age with his Stoic principles. Later in life, he wrote Letters from a Stoic, detailing these principles in full. Seneca’s letters read like a diary or a handbook of philosophical meditations. Often beginning with observations on daily life, the letters focus on many traditional themes of Stoic philosophy, such as the contempt of death, the value of friendship, and virtue as the supreme good.

Lucius Annaeus Seneca (4 B.C-A.D. 65), the chief advisor to the emperor Nero, was the power behind the throne in Ancient Rome. He is most famous for his writings on Stoic ideology, in which philosophy is a practical form of self-improvement. Seneca’s letters address the issues of life and death confronting every generation while upholding the ideals of Stoicism–valuing courage and friendship, avoiding corruption and self-indulgence, striving to achieve a good life while being immune to life’s setbacks, and enjoying life without the fear of dying.

When Seneca, a stoic philosopher and advisor in Ancient Rome for emperor Nero, wrote these moral letters to Lucilius Junior, the then procurator of Sicily, he didn’t know he would soon be forced to take his own life for alleged complicity in a conspiracy to assassinate the emperor, in which he was probably innocent.

The text begins mid-sentence, and ends rather abruptly. In the Codex Ambrosianus (the main source for Seneca's essays) it is simply tacked onto the end of De Vita Beata suggesting a scribe missed a page or two.
