I thought I had everything figured out. I’d gone to the academy for witches and mastered my magic. I’d opened my own witchy occult store, just as I always wanted. And my family was as close as ever. Megelle Island is full of supernatural creatures. I came here a few years ago to be among my own kind, to not worry that I’d accidentally shift into a raccoon or turn invisible in front of some poor human. My clumsiness was going to expose us all to the public and get me into big trouble with the angels. The only problem is…I’m the only jinn here. The rest of my Coven got to go home and relax. All I want to do after the last few months is sit on my couch, eat a whole box of cookies, and binge watch mindless feel-good movies. But apparently that is not on my to-do list.

I want my scales to not pop up if it rains or if someone spills their drink on me. I want a house on land and a pet that has fur instead of two rows of razor sharp teeth. I’ve always felt like a crab out of her shell except when I’m on land. Except sirens can’t control their shifting.

SSometimes magic just isn't enough.... Sometimes you have to start a war, and that’s just what I’m going to do. They took my soulmate. I will get him back, even if I have to destroy everything to do so....
