Cade Richards is the starting forward of the NHL team the Cranes. He’s at the top of his game and scoring like a champ. On a quick trip home, he runs into Iris, the woman he’s spent his adult life striving to be good enough for, the one who holds his heart. Iris Feldmore’s life is in shambles. Everything she’s worked for has crumbled. Her brother returns home with his best friend—her first love, Cade—in tow. The hockey team gave Cade the nickname of Heartbreaker, and it’s fitting because he broke hers. If she’s honest with herself, she’s never gotten over it.

Beckett Feldmore, the star forward of the NHL team the Cranes, is known for his athletic skills on the ice and his off-ice charm. When a knee injury jeopardizes his future in the sport, he finds himself drawn to the team’s beautiful new doctor. She’s not easily swayed by his cocky persona, and Beckett can’t help but be captivated by her, finding her indifference a challenge.

Gunner Dreven, the star goalie of the NHL team The Cranes, is known as a beast both on and off the ice. He usually sports a scowl and isn’t one for conversation, though he’s no stranger to the occasional bar fight. Penelope Stellars is as closed off as they come, with very little social life outside of work. She thrives on staying busy as the PR and social media manager for the Crane Hockey team. The two are perfect enemies. Gunner can’t stand Penny and the way she always bosses him around. Penny hates how hard Gunner makes her job with his inability to control his temper.
