The Grim Awakening

A shadow war rages on between man and the infamous Reaper. Will thirteen-year-old, Ian Grim, mark its end or cause an all-new devastating beginning? Something was off about Ian. He knew it. Everybody knew it! Why else did the kids at school go about whispering behind his back and throwing him dirty looks? He was used to it by now. But everything takes a turn for the worse when his mom goes missing one night and his dad tries to kill him.

After “patching” things up with his dad, Ian Grim is finally able to return home to Darkwood and begin training to use his spirit powers. Of course, his relationship with his dad—or the lack thereof for the past thirteen years, and the fact that his dad wanted to kill him only a few days ago, made things a bit awkward between them.

A mysterious clock tower has emerged in the Passing with the power to destroy the physical world. It’s up to the newly recruited Ridirean Anam to take it down—Ian Grim being one of them. After receiving an invitation to partake in the Triskelion Trial, a set of challenges to test potential Ridirean Anam, Ian will face hideous monsters and meet his estranged Grim family. Most alarming of all was unexpectedly coming face to face with the Reaper. Why did the Reaper want Ian to become an Anam Ridire? What did he gain from Ian entering the Secondhand Tower?
