The Hardy Boys

Frank and Joe Hardy, erstwhile teenage detectives, feel somewhat foolish after accepting a counterfeit bill while helping a stranger at the Bayport train station. Over a period of weeks, friends and family members fall prey to exchanges with counterfeiters, sometimes in transactions amounting to hundreds of dollars. Frank and Joe's father, the highly esteemed private detective Fenton Hardy, is working with the Secret Service to track down the counterfeiting ring, but thus far they haven't had much luck.

While their father, Fenton Hardy, is in Montana working on a case of stolen gold, the Hardy Boys and their friends meet Jadbury Wilson, a former gold prospector. Wilson relates his tale of how Bart Dawson, a trusted member of his party, disappeared with four bags of hard-won gold during a gunfight. Frank and Joe are thrilled to receive a telegram from their father, requesting that they join him in Montana immediately to assist on the gold case. This bothers the lads because they feel certain there has been a big mistake and they intend to do something about it. As a result of their intentions and investigation the Hardy Boys wind up helping in capture of the actual car thieves who had framed and kidnapped their friends. It’s exciting listening as they work hard to aid the Dodds, father and son.

The city of Bayport is at the mercy of a ring of car thieves! Vehicles have been disappearing off of the well-traveled Shore Road for three weeks; eventually, the gang gets bolder and starts moving their sights to the city. With the police and even Fenton Hardy running into dead ends, the town is in an uproar.
