Publisher's summary

To survive is a challenge. To survive for each other is more than they expected.

After an asteroid strikes Earth, a series of violent earthquakes destroy secluded Phoenix and leave survivor Elliot struggling to stay focused in the bleak aftermath. And then he meets fellow survivor Adam. Together, the two search for reliable shelter and other survivors while distant murky clouds fast approach. Their hunt for shelter leads them down an alternate path when they find spray painted symbols directing them to a mysterious place: Refuge Inc.

As ominous clouds slowly shut off all light to their devastated world, they are forced to come to terms with their pasts and their growing attraction for each other. Neither thought their pasts and personal crises would affect their ability to endure the horrors they're forced to live through.

Neither thought they would be drawn so close to one another in the aftermath of an unimaginable catastrophe. By working together, can they continue to survive? Or will the mystery of Refuge Inc. cause diverse expectations and lead them to decisions that further threaten their lives?

WARNING: Contains explicit male-male sexual practices, graphic language, some violence and descriptions of death.

Enjoyed

I liked this book. I appreciate that it isn’t your typical MM romance. I’m a huge fan of dystopian worlds. The narration was good. I would definitely listen to another book by Sanders and narrated by Veryzer.

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Interesting story

I enjoyed the story and the growing relationship between the main characters. The narrator is not great, but listening at 1.5 speed put the narration into the "not bad" category. I love mm romance and apocalyptic fiction, and this is a fun combination of the two.

Good story

I was kind of hesitant to start this book, end-of-the-world scenario seemed kind of depressing at this time. But I really ended up liking this story, suspenseful and well put together. I did like the development of the relationship between the main characters. The narrator isn't as terrible as some of the other reviewers seem to think, he's just a bit too mellow for this story. Speeding up the reading speed helps.

Absolutely worthless

I've read better stories with better dialogue on nifty that was in this book! The "voice" reading the book is annoyingly whiney and has zero ability to carry out simple delivery. I regret using a credit to buy this worthless book

Not Horrible

That’s about the best I can say for it. I absolutely did not like the narrator. He’s monotone a lot of the time and there’s no distinction between the two main characters. The story itself is interesting though it felt like the focus wasn’t on the most interesting facets of the plot. It felt like a lot of filler. Being as it’s the first book of a series it should’ve enticed me to read book two. It didn’t .
