About this listen

In Diary of a Submissive, Sophie Morgan candidly explains what exactly an independent, 21st-century woman gets out of relinquishing her power and personal freedom in a submissive relationship with a dominant man for their mutual sexual pleasure.

In the wake of Fifty Shades of Grey, here is a memoir that offers the real story of what it means to be a submissive and follows Sophie's story as she progresses from her early erotic experiences to experimenting with her newly awakened sexuality. From the endorphin rush of her first spanking right through to being collared, she explains in frank and explicit fashion her sexual explorations.

But it isn't until she meets James, a real life Christian Grey, that her sexual boundaries are really pushed. As her relationship with James travels into darker and darker places, the question becomes: Where will it end? Can Sophie reconcile her sexuality with the rest of her life? And is it possible for the perfect man to be perfectly cruel?

Daring, controversial, and sensual, Diary of a Submissive possesses a captivating warmth and astounding honesty. Once you listen to this book you will understand why "Sophie Morgan" is a pseudonym.

Critic reviews

"A work of top-notch erotica, this diary is also occasionally laugh-out-loud funny as the author weaves around the undeniable sweetness of love with the pain and humiliation she deeply craves during sex." ( Publishers Weekly)

The other did a great job expressing her true feelings and experiences throughout her diary of being a submissive partner. I thought the performance of the voice actor did a great job. The story was good, of course there were some parts that were a bit squeamish if you are not already into this type of lifestyle. However, it was great to learn about the lifestyle of a submissive person. Definitely open up my eyes to some things.

Definitely a learning experience!!

If you're a sub, or interested in hearing about the D/s dynamic from the view point of an alpha-sub; this is absolutely a must have audible. The story is relatable and overall very well written.

Fantastically written

A thoughtful and well presented story that is more heartfelt and open than many retrospectives. Sophie Morgan brings a level of acceptance and emotional candor that helps to reveal a mindset and concern of a submissive. While not all submissives desire or have a need for pain this was an enlightening and welcomed perspective.

well written and narrated

If you think you’re a submissive... this is one point of view that may or may not confirm your thoughts.

Uncomfortable

I understand that it makes some people uncomfortable, but that's only because the author is wildly vulnerable with us in sharing her deepest fantasies (and their eventual fulfillment), and these things are typically taboo. She was brave to share her story with the world and her way with words makes you feel like you are right there in her experiences with her

Fascinating

The narrator was outstanding. I really enjoyed that part.

This book is nearly identical in places to the first book in E.L. James' famous trilogy.

Presentation and editing is better in the present story. I like that it doesn't present D/s relationships as "sick" in some way.

Here is an engaging first person story of one woman's experience of discovering and living D/s relationships. Highly recommended.

50 Shades edited

Seemed a lot like 50 shades series. Kind of sad when I realized that the book was published a year after 50 shades. Storyline was nearly identical in sections.

The book definitely gives you a view from the submissive's world. It helped me gain a lot of perspective on why somebody would be willing to be as submissive. I'm only upset that I don't know who the guy is at the very end I think I know but I would like to like have a definite answer.

loved it

In Diary of a Submissive, is definitely written in the first person as a diary with a novel overtones.

I don't believe in passing judgement on others kink, that being said I didn't feel the same about humiliation. While Sophie seems to get off on it, it's not something I enjoyed through her eyes. While honest and interesting, I didn't mind the book, I just couldn't get past the humiliation aspect.

Definitely a Diary

I liked reading this title although I must say I cringed at moments when there was no clear explanation of consent and limits. This is essential to a BDSM dynamic and throughout the story the main character didn't call a safe word ever. This is unrealistic. BDSM is not meant to 'break' you, it's meant to push your limits and liberate yourself. Not to abuse yourself. I understand a lot of people have bigger pain / emotional thresholds but I just felt it was unrealistic when compared to a real life scenario.
Other than that important aspect, I liked the story and I was captured by it as well as the descriptions of the scenes.
I would recommend it with the disclaimer about clear consent, limits, and safe word.

Great story but missing key elements of BDSM
