About this listen

When her village faces a winter of starvation, Sita draws the shortest straw. Now she’s to be given to the orcs across the river in exchange for food and supplies so her family can survive. Given the chance to choose her own husband from among the eligible orc bachelors, she selects Gurrek, the reluctant blacksmith, who clearly doesn’t want her. He’s the safest option.

Gurrek has always wanted a wife of his own, but not like this. Now he’s saddled with a human woman who needs new shoes, new clothes, and can’t even speak his language. He wants nothing to do with her, and yet her sweet, strong personality draws him in closer with every passing day.

As Sita and Gurrek try to find a place to fit within each other’s lives, attraction begins to bloom between them. But Gurrek refuses to touch a woman who never wanted to be his in the first place. Can Sita break through the blacksmith’s high walls to become his true wife, mind, body, and soul?

This is a sweet, cozy, steamy orc romance that features an arranged marriage, a grumpy/sunshine dynamic, a slow burn, a virgin encounter, and a holiday theme. Please check the content warnings on the author's website.

The book was a nice listen however, every chapter is cut off short. The voice acting was pleasant to listen to otherwise.

Three stars for a well written sweet story about learning to love through many challenges. I was surprised by the amount of explicit sexuality. I was startled by it as I was into this lovely story. I had to go back to Audible and then saw the Erotica notation. Missed that for sure. Anyhow, I skimmed through sex scenes and enjoyed the rest. The two narrators, Leslie Burke and Alex Kingsley did a remarkable job.

This story was sweet and heart-warming, but the quality of the recording is very poor. Chapter endings are frequently cut off, a line of dialogue in the middle of one page was missing, then appeared in the middle of the next page (I read the kindle version while I was listening), and most annoying of all, the narration ends before the book does. Good thing I had that kindle version!
This book definitely deserves better than it got from this audio presentation.

This was a super sweet story and the narrators did a great job. the audio editing was horrible with the way it cut off the ending of every chapter. for an orc story the spice level was maybe a 🌶🌶🌶

the end of EVERY SINGLE chapter has the last 30 seconds chopped off including the very ending. this needs taken down until the audio file is fixed. tried on multiple devices with the same result. "check for content warning" at very end of description should say soft porn or just lots of sex.

It was an okay book I liked the storyline…but seriously why are the chapters cutoff at the end?
