About this listen

Every other weekend, Stella buys a ticket on the next flight out of town and leaves her life behind. Home is a place with too many memories, and departure is the sweetest possible distraction.

As soon as she arrives at her destination, Stella visits the airport bar. She orders a drink and waits for the right guy to come along. A bored businessman, a backpacker, a baggage handler just off shift. If he's into a hot, no-strings hookup, he's perfect. Each time is a thrilling escape from reality that gives the term layover a whole new meaning.

When Stella meets the enigmatic Matthew in Chicago one weekend, she hits some serious turbulence. Something about him tells her that she's not the only one running from the past. The connection between them is explosive, and, for the first time, one taste is not enough for Stella. But returning to find a gorgeous man waiting for her is the easy part - facing the reason she's there is a whole other matter.

I love Megan's unique way of telling stories. Her books cover the whole gamut of emotions. Another great "listen!"

This is a story with a lot of heart that any woman mid life will truly relate to! Read it and you too will be flying.

love Megan, loved this book!

Megan hart characters are usually fully developed and flawed. I feel like she missed something with Stella and Matthew. The heroine is like able, but many Megan Hart fans will agree that Flying is missing the magic her other characters/books have.

The narrator was excellent.

Excellent narrative but story falls flat

It was a little sad. Narrator had the same tone of voice through out the book for the girl part. It’s really mellow and slow. She didn’t meet the main character guy, Matthew, until around the 7 hour of the book. Overall, the book has a good story, narrator sounded boring but at least she didn’t sound annoying; which would probably stop me from finishing this book. I wish the author had some kind of explanation to what happen with Matthew’s ex at the end.

Mellow and slow but overall a good story

The ending was disappointing! I don't understand how she could be with that guy after everything he did! At least give us an epilogue letting us know he made some amends and finally put her first!

Story was good...but....

I really enjoyed this book. Abby Craden did excellent. I wasn't crazy about the ending but still an enjoyable book.

Enjoyable

Uninteresting story, unlikeable characters. Waste of time and money. Plus, the narrator's total over-enunciation of every sound and syllable was difficult, if not impossible, to adjust to.

Boring

What disappointed you about Flying?

Everything. I honestly didn't even care what happened to a single character by the 4th or 5th chapter.

Has Flying turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, I usually love them. Including Megan Hart's other books.

How could the performance have been better?

The performance wasn't bad, but I kind of hated the actual characters.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Not so much. Even the ending was a let-down.

Ugh

Flying is about woman named Stella. Stella had endured a personal tragedy that precipitated her divorce. She has a practice of picking-up men by flying to a city and hooking at arbitrary bar for a one-night-stand. Here is the thing, you never quite connect with Stella. Also, Matthew, her eventual love interest, is just not likable on any dimension. Why Stella would put up with him, I have no idea -- he should have been given the heave ho -- seriously. Also, her abrupt changes have her breaking character several times, very jarring in a bad way.

The revelations happen late and timed at awkward times. You could forgive that a bit if the timing wasn't so ill timed that it leaves you shaking your head. Also, the supporting characters have massive unresolved issues and act in ways that leave you scratching you head as well.

I usually like what Megan Hart writes but this is a dud. I would definitely pass.

Characters fall well short of the mark
