About this listen

I never meant to be here: tied up in bed next to a serial killer. When I followed him home, I was just playing Nancy Drew. Trying to find out his secret. His kiss was intoxicating, and I thought he was harmless. I was wrong. Nancy Drew never ended up in a basement, handcuffed to a radiator, teased to the edge of insanity, begging to be let go. Soon I stopped begging to be let go. Soon I started begging to be his.

brilliant

When this started I wasn't sure i wanted to finish it. It is a very different romance than what I have listened to in the past. I wasn't I wanted to listen to something that I could see how there could be a HEA. No spoilers though. You will need to listen for yourself to see how it ends. Carly Robins did an amazing job narrating. This story was brilliantly written!

+5 star narration & a unique story

STORY: 2.75 stars
PERFORMANCE: +5 stars
OVERALL: 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars

HIS is the unlikely love story of a serial killer and a librarian. In HIS, Ms. Dark takes us off the path leading to the typical abduction turns romance story by changing things up just a tad. In addition to creating a unique story, I was very impressed with the way Ms. Dark brought the uncommon characters to life. Without excessive or large amounts of content or terminology overtly describing either of the main characters, Dark's characters were so well-developed that I could picture them in my mind, I felt connected to them and I wanted them to succeed.

Despite all of the positive factors about this book, unfortunately there were several negative aspects to it as well. For me, what detracted from this book most were the unrealistic and unlikely things the characters did and/or said. I understand that this is fiction yet far-fetched events and actions detract from the believability of the story. Overall, I was entertained and did enjoy this book. I'm actually jumping straight into MINE (the next book in this series) right now!

I listened to this Audible audiobook and have nothing but positive things to say about narrator Carly Robins. She was absolutely superb and I will be seeking out more books narrated by her in the future!

Good if you don't look to deep.

I enjoyed this how do you. It was easy to follow and the story was quick. It was predictable and a little blasé at times. If you enjoy a story where there's a dark obsessive need for a woman who has no other choice but to submit with out much work from her captor and does so quickly than this is the story for you. There were points in the story where I found it needed a little more explanation. Then narrator was good. I just enjoy a little more dark in my dark reads.

Excellent, but not for everyone

To understand and appreciate this book, I believe a person needs a few specific qualities. This is one of the first books I've read with some real Stockholm syndrome seemingly introduced. Even so, I loved it. The characters had such darkness in them and the way they relieved it in one another was a long, hard journey to understanding. The end didn't wow me as much as I had hoped it would and although I wouldn't call it a cliffhanger, there was a lot of unfinished business and I have so many questions. I suppose those questions are still there for a reason though, for the reader to answer themselves. I would definitely recommend this one to others and I plan to read Mine next.

Decent Kidnapping/Captive book

The story brings real world common mental issues such as anxiety and OCD into the book.

Kidnapping, murder, bondage, attempted suicide, M/F, MFC is over 21.

One of the best books I’ve ever listened to.

This book will forever live rent free in my mind. So complex so wonderful in a screwed up kind of way.

Needed a guy narrator

I liked the story. it would have been better with a guy and girl narrating. other than that it was a good story.

Are you effing kidding me!?? ♥️♥️

I have not been enjoying books lately, and I could not understand why. It is because I was not getting stimulated. This book kept me on my toes, turned me on and made me question my morals and sanity. I loved it!!

Wanted to like this book

I liked the story but i do not think the narrator was a good choice. For the fenale she was fine but she made the man sound like a tool. He is supposed to be a big, sexy, intimidating guy. Unfortunate:(
