Publisher's summary

A fortuitous encounter. A meeting that should never have happened.

Many years ago, two children from completely different worlds forged a connection, a fateful connection, an unbreakable bond that would change their lives forever...

Salome knows only one way to live - under Prophet David’s rule. In the commune she calls home, Salome knows nothing of life beyond her strict faith, nor of life beyond the Fence - the fence that cages her, keeps her trapped in an endless cycle of misery. A life she believes she is destined to always lead, until a horrific event sets her free.

Fleeing the absolute safety of all she has ever known, Salome is thrust into the world outside, a frightening world full of uncertainty and sin; into the protective arms of a person she believed she would never see again.

River ‘Styx’ Nash knows one thing for certain in life - he was born and bred to wear a cut. Raised in a turbulent world of sex, Harleys, and drugs, Styx, unexpectedly has the heavy burden of the Hades Hangmen gavel thrust upon him, and all at the ripe old age of twenty-six - much to his rivals’ delight.

Haunted by a crushing speech impediment, Styx quickly learns to deal with his haters. Powerful fists, an iron jaw, and the skillful use of his treasured German blade has earned him a fearsome reputation as a man not to be messed with in the shadowy world of outlaw MC’s. A reputation that successfully keeps most people far, far away.

Styx has one rule in life - never let anyone get too close. It’s a plan that he has stuck to for years, that is, until a young woman is found injured on his lot...a woman who looks uncannily familiar, a woman who clearly does not belong in his world, yet a woman he feels reluctant to let go...

Be open minded and read it

At first I was worried from some of the reviews so I almost didn’t purchase. I am from texas and live close to where the book was based and overall was pleased. The story took a bit to get into but then I was hooked. Even my husband got not it since we were on a road trip and I wanted to listen to my book. So for 3hrs we listened to it. Once we got home he keep telling me not to listen lol. It’s not a book for someone not with a open mind and not able
To handle dark story’s of real things that happen everyday. I have gone ahead and purchased all the remaining books in the series.

Great series starter

This was a new author for me and this audiobook delivered a spellbinding story of a connection between two souls over many years and distance. Having only seen one another once as children through an impenetrable fence, the hero and heroine find each other again in the midst of terror. This book has dark elements, but the story of love is the focus. The narration was excellent and I really think the male narrator did a fabulous job depicting a person with a speech impediment. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Something about a good ol’ MC Romance 💜

First off..the audiobooks is definitely the way to go. I rarely ever love all narrators or accents, especially if it’s dual narration, but this one—I have zero complaints! They sounded just as I’d imagine the characters would sound like and it really adds to the reading experience.

The story is probably one of my favorites now, in terms of MC romance storylines..pretty unique and beautifully written, I immediately ordered the entire series..that’s how much I loved this first book. Must read, don’t put it off forever like I did!

Meh

I loved Styx, but I didn't click with Mae. I wanted to and I did for the first part of the book but after she stoped talking to Styx and spent so much time with Rider I lost interest. I listened until ~ the 9hr mark and gave up on this book and moved to book 3 which is now my new favorite book ever. But book 1 I couldn't even finish.

Fantastic MC

This is one of the best MC books I’ve ever read/listened to. Absolutely loved it!!
JF Harding did a phenomenal job as Styx.
The plot is original and intense.
May is part of a cult and when she escapes she finds herself in another form of lockdown only this time the men surrounding her want to protect her and will do it at any cost.
Knowing May has been imprisoned all her life, the last thing Styx wants to do is keep her in his cage and that’s just what the MC would do to her. But for May, she’s found freedom in the brotherhood of the Hades Hangman and she’ll do whatever it takes to stay. For once she’s finally found home and the boy on the other side of the fence who stole her heart all those years ago.
This is MC, so there may be triggers for some. The men are ruthless and violent but their actions are always done in the name of the club.
Can’t wait to enjoy the rest of this series. Already purchased book 2!

Different in a Good Way

I had this in my wishlist for awhile for a rainy day. I listen to audiobooks like someone’s paying me for it (is there a way to make this obsession lucrative?!), and before starting this one, I was in a romance slump. I was tired of the same story lines & peaks & valleys (or lack thereof) in other stories. I knew this would be something sort of different, but in the wheelhouse of what I enjoy. I would say the a requisite for liking this sort of story is some understanding/acceptance of outlaw biker/club romance. I’ve listened to some great biker romance & some really shitty biker romance. Like any great story, a great biker romance requires a strong heroine & generally a broken, albeit redeemable male lead. Mae is not your normal badass, but the more you learn about her & her past, it becomes abundantly clear that she is among the biggest badasses…the fact that she had the will to survive 23 yrs & then to escape the only life she ever knew to pursue the great unknown, is proof of her strength & character. She was a breath of fresh air, truly. I wanted her to be happy. I cried at what she went through, and I cheered for her the whole way with increasing vigor. I also cared deeply for Styx - he is so flawed - he’s not just your average biker who had a rough childhood & is now the alpha-ist, most arrogant he-slut, etc…don’t get me wrong, Styx is an alpha, but there’s far more to him than those superficial attributes. Mae & Styx’s flaws make them real in a way that not all authors convey. To me, that’s the difference between a good & a great story. I greatly enjoyed this story & will continue with the series. The premise of the story is great & the narrators do an excellent job as well. 5*

Woah…

Leaves you on the edge of your seat… some parts and subjects get really graphic and shocking but it is such a great story. Love all of the Hades Hangmen’s novels. Once you finish this one you’ll be ready to down load the next one!

Great narration! J.F. Harding killed it!!

J.F.Harding is one of my absolute favorites! First time listening to Annie Green and she was great.
I really liked the story even though it had a predictable storyline. The characters were great and very biker-like. Love the brotherhood of an MC. Even chuckled a few times. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Amazing!!!!

I have to say. There is nothing like this story. It drew me in and what a ride. I highly recommend this book. The characters were not your typical types which was so refreshing. Definitely worth the credit.

Really good story

What did you love best about It Ain't Me, Babe?

I loved Styx's heart. The book is filled with a few too many swear words, but I guess that makes it realistic. Even with that, I loved the story. It is well written and I have a new favorite author.

What was one of the most memorable moments of It Ain't Me, Babe?

The dynamics between May, Strider and Styx. The scene's were well done, the story heart rending.

What does J.F. Harding and Annie Green bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The narrators are fantastic in this book. I love the way they speak without the choppy broken sounds that so many use. They speak smoothly, with emotion taking nothing from the story, just adding to it. Both do a fantastic job!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I never know what to say to this question... they should replace it... I'm a reader, not a writer of taglines...

Any additional comments?

This story is well worth the credit. There is not one bit of it that I would wish changed except maybe a few less swear words. It grates on the mind a little but its still so good that I'm going to buy the other two knowing full well they will be in the same format. Very talented author!
